I've narrowed down what mod I would like to use to Aristeia, Rise of Persia, Daidochi, Roma Surrectum and Rome Total Realism. Far too much choice for me to make a decision. One thing i am particularly looking for is a sweet Greek Faction(s) and fairly distinct Eastern factions. The Romans bore me

Re: A more specific mod recommendation question...
You could play the Extended Greek Mod where the Greek's get the same kind of depth as the Roman's do in Vanilla (That's the description)

I've been reading quite a lot about that mod recently but I don't think I'd like it from the look of the pictures. I don't like the way the Greeks fight in Vanilla Rome. All the other mods that I'm trying to decide between have all got the more realistic, more flexible Hoplites.

Ok well definitaly don't play Roma Surrectum as that focuses mainly on Rome, Rise of Persia I don't think has the Persian Wars, because the timeline of that game takes place between 559-490 B.C. and the Persian Wars started around 490 B.C.
I think you should play Europa Barbarorum, that mod is really fun and pretty challenging, it has a lot of Greek factions and some good Eastern factions also.

See, I've played RS before and I really enjoyed it. Conversely, I didn't like EB much at all. I know, ROP's timeline is also a bit off but the factions do look quite entertaining to play as.

Re: A more specific mod recommendation question...
RoP is a nice mod and i really enjoy it.
because it has alot of Realism in it and with a little changes in the RoP files i can make the timeline as long as i want.
so yeah.
in 492 Darius wanted to invade Greece and in 480 Xerxes tried again.
i'll ask to the lead developer of he could change that in the next version.
