armor upgrades?

I was in a Danish campaign and noticed that none of the armor upgrades were being displayed on the unit sprites in the army interface screen. Did a quick look and started a English campaign and the same thing, I build a blacksmith or second upgrade and still nothing is being displayed on the units in the army interface screen, but in custom battle the armor upgrades are displayed and usable.

Also, I saw screenshots that displayed the year turn, I have nothing showing except the word middle ages.

Perhaps the upgrades are not taking effect in campaign mode... We'll have to check buildings' config.
