    Default Bill O'Reilly final misstep

I think this guy just finished his career. I you don't know Bill O'Reilly, he is a Fox tv news talkshow host, a wildly conservative republican.

I just saw this on CNN:

O'REILLY: Hey, you know, if you want to ban military recruiting, fine, but I'm not going to give you another nickel of federal money. You know, if I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, "Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead."

And if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.

As many here and in other blogs have noted, Bill O'Reilly crossed the line by endorsing an al Qaeda terrorist attack against the United States of America.

It is time to do to Bill O'Reilly what the blogosphere successfully did to the Sinclair Broadcast Group - hit 'em in the wallet. We must notify O'Reilly's sponsors that they are, in fact, sponsoring a radio program that has stated its support of a terrorist attack against the United States.

In the Extended Body I have contact information for the corporate sponsors of The Radio Factor, and a copy of the email that I sent them.

Why would that finish his career? If saying outlandish, stupid things cost people their career then every radio and tv show commentary is in trouble. Al Franken routinely says far worse as does Howard Dean. And saying he is endorsing a terrorist strike is a real stretch of what he actually said.

hmmm, I agree here...It was a slap in the face, but hell, military recruiters are devious, just the fact that they brag it all up, and always leave out the dieing part. plus, they prey on the poor. Don't forget this war is a joke.

It get's to the point when you have to ask....why are we defending them when all they do is degrade and belittle our fallen heros of today and yesterday. And now, they don't want to partake in filling the ranks of our military.

    It's a disgrace.
lets face it, they are saving lives by doing this. It would be a different story if this was a just war, not one built on lies.

Take that back? What are we 5 yrs old...are you gonna call your mommy if I dont too? You'll just dismiss them as he was joking or they were passing comments not to be taken seriously and you will be *absolutely right* and so is OReilly's comment. This is a non issue, its what Franken, OReilly, Limbaugh, Coutler, Hannity etc all do...incite and Im suprised people are shocked by it, only anal people on each side of the political fence get upset by these comments and rush to call upon the firing of the person behind them.

"In an odd way, I blame Linda Tripp and Ann Coulter for 9/11" - Franken

"Matt Lauer: "All right, Karl Rove and Scooter Libby what's their future? What's your prediction in terms of indictments? Yes or no?"
Franken: "Oh they, they'll be indicted. I, I am absolutely sure and this is about, of course, the war in Iraq really. It's about the justification for the war and smearing Joe Wilson by outing his wife who's a CIA agent. George H.W. Bush, the President's father, said, as, when he was head of the CIA, that outing a CIA agent is treason. I agree. So I think that Rove and Libby will be executed." - Franken

    And Franken's promo video http://wm.amazon.usa.speedera.net/wm..._crop_300k.wmv

You can't compaire coutier to any of those people, shes like a neo-nazi, rofl.

Also i'm convinced that most of these people just talk because they are paid to anyways. Hannity used to, for example, not be the way he is now at all. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere he acts like this, heh. People on shows like hannity and comes or crossfire are paid to act extreme, be they left or right. Moderates need not apply in the new US news debate shows. As a result reality is non-existant on them.

I can't believe someone said Rush Limbaugh was serious.
Hehe, ya thats definate true, people need to listen to thsese people before they come up with an opinion.

He'll find some way out of it probably, and he won't get fired, unless there is a ton of outside pressure on FOX. He basically made another stupid, ignorant comment about people who disagree with him, and this is one of hte times it gets him into trouble. Of course, anyone who disagrees with him is wrong though, because he is the ultimate genius and champion of americans*.

    Wildly Conservative Repuclican lol

He's registered 'independant' and has been for decades.

    He's against the Death penalty.

    He's for legalizing Marijuana.

    Yea, he's a real hard core right-winger.

Btw, I just moved out of San Francisco (worste city in the country to raise a family) and took my family to an island in the bay called, well, Alameda. We lived in SF for 10 years though, right smack dab in the middle between the Castro and Mission districts.

Why do I bring this up? Because I agree with Bill O'Rielly on this. San Francisco has been slapping the military in the face for a few years now. They just recently sent a WWII warship packing after voting to reject letting it rest in San Francisco Bay as a museum. They slapped 1000s of veterans from WWII in the face.

Not just some WW2 warship, the USS Iowa! Really I dont see where his comments are a big deal, he is no more serious about wishing terrorist blow up San Fran then Al Franken was in calling for the execution of Karl Rove. Im amazed people are taking the comment so seriously, he isnt a jounralist all he is is a talk show host basically. You know how many comments were dished out about the south and 'red states' after the election by liberal broadcasters, its hypocritical to attack him on this.

Pat Robertson still has his job, and he says things which are far worse.

Hell, Rush, as you know, has had his problems and hes still around as well.

They wont fire him because people who listen will agree with him, i wont say if I do or dont though I do agree S.F. is idiotic and insulting due to the disrespect with the USS Iowa. Iraq and WW2 are completely different and separate issues and they just used it as a way to attack Iraq.

yup franken jokes (hence the name of his book) and the rest are serious.....when dean speaks it is serious also.

yeah, I love that video.lol (where did that guy get the beer bottle, lol )

when OReilly, Limbaugh, Coutler, Hannity and combs speak, they are serious.

Hehe see that is just your bias speaking, you cant honestly tell me you take Coutler and what she says as serious she is doing the same exact damn thing Franken does. Franken simply hides under the guise of humor. They are all smartass people who whip out the soundbites and wisecracks and if you cant see that its kinda of sad and toss Bill Mahler and Steward in there too. So when Dean says he hates Republicans he is seriously saying he hates every registered republican? Or when the only black that would be at a republican gathering would be hotel workers he is also serious? Or that Republicans are "evil"? Or his refusal to denounce racist attacks against Lt Gov Michael Steele? I will say I was unfair in including Dean in the list though.

umm maher, stewart and franken are all comedians....... you need to compare Combs vs Hannity, Rush vs. Ed Shultz, Coulter/malkin vs. Huffington, Oreilly vs. (ok, maybe franken) Bill Maher vs. Tucker Carlson

franken vs oreilly is a big stretch, because Bill is always serious...Franken is more like John stewart but less funny. I guess I have to make these to go versus eachother because of thier past run ins.

Um no, only Steward can still some claim to being soley a comedian...Franken and Mahler are WELL past being simply comedians they simply use humor. Bill is always serious because why? Because he doesnt give that stupid smile like Franken does after he says something dumb? Franken is often quite serious on the radio. Anyway this is distracting from the original post now.

ok, yea, Franken is more serious, but your quote of him was a joke...I remember him saying it. I go to alot of rightwing blogs, and almost all their flames are misquoted jokes that they say. It's almost too easy for their bloggers.

anyways...back to Bill and San Fran. Military recruiting is a joke, I got hussled outside of Malls all the time when I was around 17 ,18.

    remember this; http://www.michaelmoore.com/_images/...recruiters.mov
nothing wrong with joining up, people just have a prob with this war..

This is hardly the end of O'Reilly. It looks more like smarmy finger pointing by his political opponents, who are just foaming at the mouth at the prospect of something they can try to trap him on. When people were talking about not liberating France next time they get overrun, they weren't endorsing a Nazi blitzkreig. O'Reilly isn't endorsing Al-Qaeda either, he's just saying that when people stop supporting the federal government, the federal government stops supporting them. Heh... if only secession were that easy.

Maybe we can give California back to Mexico. Question, can other
states force a state out of the union; force them to secede?
Because Hollywood, UCLA , gay/effeminate San Francisco has
more in common with the one testicle continent (Eurabia or the former
area known as western Europe) as the rest of the country.
Listen, you want the student aid from the Federal government
but you will not defend it; sounds similar to welfare to me.
    If you don't defend (still a choice no one is forcing you) the country;
no student aid from the county, kabeesh.
