Had to Reinstall = Patch 1.3 Issues

Patch 1.3 justy will not load - I get a small installer message and then a W7 error stating the file cannot run.

Fired up my old XP box and it loads fine. Gives three options:
- Fix
- Update
- ???

...or some such. Why'd CA have to make it so complex? Should have just overwritten/added what it needed to after selecting the target directory.

Anyway - anyone know a solution?

- Reinstalled - game runs fine - Ver 1.0
- Installed patch 1.2 - game runs fine

For Win 7:
1. log in as administrator.
2. Disable the UAC. Total War games and UAC are not foriends.
3. Check to make sure you have full admin rights to the patch and the Rome folder.

Already did #1 and #2 - give me more on #3 - what do I check specifically?

Right-click the icon, file, or folder, click properties, click secutiry, and now look down the permissions listed. One says Full Control. If it is not checked for your login, you have to give it manually.

No joy on getting Patch 1.3 to work...

- BUT -

..finally said the heck w/ it and went to my old XP machine, hooked up an external drive, copied RTW over and then copied it to the W7 machine. Problem solved - and I saved the copy on the external drive for future issues. If I have any.
