cannot launch campaign

I have reinstalled original total war

then patch 1.3

then patch 1.5

then RTR platinum 1.9

when I launch the game goes to the start up screen.

I try and start a new campaign
I can see and select any faction I want, when I hit the proceed arrow it goes to a screen that has 3 options

campaign
historic battle
online battle.

I cannot get a campaign to start.

Any help?!?

Are you using the version for RTW 1.5? Do you have Barbarian Invasion?

I have downloaded and installed patches 1.3 & 1.5 for RTW.

I do not have barbarian invasion

right now I can play historic battles, and did not install gamespy so not sure if I can play online

I tried to make a custom battle, but every troop deployed in water ( I chose scottish highlands for my terrain) and died instantly.

when I close the program this error message pops up

I have experienced a similar problem but I have the Barbarian Invasion add-on though. I get to pick a faction in campaign and then click next and poof crashes to desktop.
