Default Custom Textues Black or Invisible When Modded

I've done this kind of thing in Napoleon with no problems, but it doesn't work in Empire. The textures, flags, are invisible on the ui and black on the campaign map.

However, custom textures are black in-game only when placed in a pack file of its own as a mod. When I make the change directly in the ui.pack it works fine, so it's not about tga file format as I first thought.

Does anyone know what is wrong?

    Alpha channels?

Possibly, but how would those be affected? I imagine it has something to do with the saving process, but the textures show up fine when they're directly replacing files in the ui.pack. Only when I make a seperate pack and use mod manager the textures are black or invisible. So the alpha channels should be fine. Maybe the pack format itself has changed somehow with a new patch?

That can happen because of one of the following:

    - Corrupt files. Solution is to insert them int your pack again in Packfilemanager by using the replace command to replace existing files one by one with the same name.

    - You may have forgotten to turn off the Alpha channel in the gloss-file. to do this, go to "Channels" in Photoshop in the _gloss file and then select the Alpha Channel and fille it with black and save. Then replace the existing gloss file in your mod with the modified one.

You need to have one _diffuse, one _gloss and on _normal file for each texture.
