Just Got H.O.I. 3

I love this game but its only version 1.0 the auto update says patch 1.4 can be downloaded. Do i have to get other patches before 1.4? Also playing my first campaign as germany i crushed poland and then turned on france i captured paris yet france surrendered to my ally italyWTF!!! is this normal as i did the bulk of the fighting ?

Well if it takes you right to the 1.4 patch it probably contains the rest of them.

As for France and Italy, if the HoI3 system is like HoI2 then I suppose Italy just held more of Frances provinces that had 'Victory Points' than you. I think that's how it worked...

In case of France, there should have been the option to create Vichy as well. Did you at least get to keep the provinces you took?

Yes blank i got to keep the provinces i took except paris.I took paris long before italy i have an armoured div there later italy moved in an infantry brigade and since france surrenderd to italy it shows paris as theirs!

Well it happens i guess. Or, at least in the base game. With SF, the Axis vs France result is fixed, Vichy France is always created and Germany gets the rest of mainland France. Which sort of sucks if you're Italy. But then you can still attack Vichy before they join Axis and annex them.

surrender events are a bit mucky right now. I played as Italy and helped conquer the Caucasus as well as all the way up to Stalingrad. When the Bitter Peace fired, i got nada. It was like that in vanilla HOI2.

Ya, all because hard-core WWII fans complained the game is not historical when Finland AI decided to conquer Italy; now Paradox gives us historical campaign to satisfy those hard-core WWII fans by ripping off our fun to create our own WWII...

Man, next time just don't join Axis as Italy...

^Damn, that sucks. That's the best part of the SU with all that yummy oil and such. I guess I'll have to be careful as I plan on playing my Italian game I have saved around august of 39' when get home. It may not come to that anyway, as I've been debating a backdoor invasion of Germany after they've committed most of the Wehrmacht to France during their impending invasion. Decisions, decisions.

@geyseirk Haven't seen that happen ever although I'm playing with Semper Fi now as opposed to just HOI 3. All Paradox patches contain all previous patches within them because they're just cool like that. To continue with your current game, try loading your most recent save and see if the same thing occurs again.

I have just got this game and was wandering if there is anyway to zoom in without using a mousewheel mine isnt working.

EDIT: Doesnt matter i downloaded the 1.4 patch and a button for zooming in is located next to the map just like in Vicky 2.
