Fatal Graphics Error with TATW 2.0

Every time I try to launch it the game begins but then it minimizes and when I try to go back into it i get this fatal graphics error message. This is the second time its happening to me. The game will work and launch fine several times then all of a sudden it will not start. Medieval II will start but TATW won't.

Last time I fixed it by reinstalling M2TW and TATW but I'm hoping to find a more permanent solution. I've tried reinstalling TATW as well. Anyone know what's wrong with my game??? (I really want to play)

The error message actually says "Fatal graphics error"?

I dunno, it's weird. Could your directx or gpu drivers be out of date? Maybe you're using some incompatible graphical settings like a weird refresh rate, resolution or high anti-aliasing but I'm just grabbing at straws here.

I think I had the same error. I restarted my computer and after that the game worked again.

I think we had the same problem I restarted my PC and it works good now. Have you found any permanent solution to your problem?

The only time I had it was this evening, so no. But I'm starting to think it happened because my computer was running allmost the entire day.

I'm certain that it's not my drivers I updated them all and DirectX about one month ago and my card can definitely handle M2TW (9800 GT). I don't have problems when the game is running. It's just the startup.

And yes it says Fatal Graphics Error Medieval 2.

I think I got this on my laptop. I think that this happens when your graphics card is overloaded or whatever you want to call it. When too much stuff happens and your graphics card can't cope. Only happend sometimes. I think just turned the graphics down a little bit and it was fine.
It was very long ago I played on my laptop so my memory of it isn't that great.

I remember getting this ages ago with vanilla m2tw but I have got a new gfx card since and it hasn't happened.

I had the same exact problem. Restarting it fixed it. Didn't realize that could happen but then again I'm more of a computer gamer and less of computer geek unfortunately.
