    Default Multiplayer games

Yes..Hello TWC members and other people. I dont know how many of you play Rome online..but I have a small question- Everyone either always leaves my games or nobody joins when the game needs one more person. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well seeing as this is the RTW MP subforum you can assume most people do play online..
Concerning your problem, In the years since RTW has been out, many years i might add, most players have conformed to a standard format of games. Mostly being games on grassy flatland on normal scale and somewhere between 10K and 30K in funds. i would advise you to join other peoples games and learn what kind of game setup other players appreciate. once you know what floats someone's boat you can reel in more players.

Pretty sure Master_Cyclonis always hosts 1v1 or 2v2 CWB 15k each.

What time zone do you live in?

Strange, I never have such problems. It could be your rules are off-putting. Or your connection or rather your connection to GS is poor. Do you alt-tab when waiting for people to join? That could be your problem. Verbally abusing people who join your games are off-putting. Maybe the game dies after a few seconds. Perhaps you leave your keyboard so people join and leave when they figure the host is innactive? Maybe you just happen to host games when nobody is around, or when there are plenty of open games.

Why are you so sure? When I host such games I usually have so many people join in that I put a pass. Certainly don't have his problems.

Fred's right. 1v1 or 2v2 15k cwb is my usual game. The occasional 3v3. But I usually play either late at night, early morning, or some other time. And if it seems people aren't joining, I do go alt-tab. But lately every game has been had a person drop out or it freezes at setup. But thanks for your advice, Max and Plant.

well cwb 15 k is pretty much the most popular around so our advice wont help. try joining hell clan. they mass recruit so much that you are guaranteed to have enough for 2v2's most of the time.

Sometimes Gs has bad days when connecting is damn near impossible. Getting a 1v1 let alone a 2v2 is difficult then.

Its easier to get a 2v2 going when in a clan. At least then if the game freezes/crashes etc you can rehost and get it done. Harder to do this with clanless players who've randomly joined the game and have no connection to each other.

HELL clan-i would have to be desperate to join them. I don't even play them..I kick them on sight, because they always seem to break my rules or treat other gamers poorly. But otherwise..it just seems to be that i play at slow times of the day, but thanks for the advice and maybe see you on the battlefield sometime.

Which hell clan members would that be? I think a few of my friends like ant or mir would be very interested in hearing about this. still if you want easy game arranging a clan(that you dont hate) would work for that purpose.

Whenever Max plays a 3v3, at the end of the battle where all the battle statistics are shown, he CTD's. Makes it annoying to get a screenie.

I don't host large scale 3v3. I've tried..always freezes or a majority of people drop. But i don't understand why everyone prefers normal scale? And Max..I've forgotten the orginial HELL members who i played, but recently one of them called a another word for a heroic victory was harassing me. I would say the others..but I'm not stating anything.
And battle scroll bug? Odd..guess it could be like that cav thing I thought I saw.

There are poor players in all realms of the game. You can't stigmatize a group of players without knowing what the rest are like. I used to be in HELL. I'm not a monster, am I? Many HELL are older gamers and nice folks. A few younger idiots, yes, but with a larger clan, it's hard not to get those bad apples every now and then. Not to be rude, but it sounds more like a personal issue of placing yourself beyond first impressions, and not being offended by everything the least bit immature or rude. Most players are kids--it goes with the territory.

If I recall correctly, you have a pid of Maiden_of_Thorns, and during one team game I played with you, on my team there was either a complete noob, or some wild faction disadvantage, and after saying "gl hf" I said, "no wait, I take that back--we need all the luck" in jest (or something to that matter) in which you said "that's rude" and immediately left the game during deployment, ruining it for all the players. We resolved it after the battle, but my point in reciting this story is that I'm familiar with your temperament. Take it easy and shrug off the idiots you encounter.

    (Yes, I do have a crazy memory, don't I?)

we all remember the things that piss us off. i am still waiting for FTD's apology for a 2007 insult myself.
on the matter at hand however clans should demand mature behaviour of their members. if they are little kids ofcourse theres an understanding but still they can be kept in line.
clanless cant be controlled however so i dont really expect them to behave at all. really depends on how well their parents raised them.

But if the only ones who join your games are the poorer players of a clan, wouldn't that give way to possibly think the clan is bad? Also..that incident was back when I would flip out and ban the people from my games for as long as i remember the incident. btw, love your map pack.

I guess my friend was right- All it is a game. Enjoy it and secretly laugh at the stupidity.Or join it.

Well, younger clan members first transitioning to clan life often get a elitist power-trip when they first join. (Then they generally either realize how much they suck and start learning, or think they're so damn good hating being referred to so lowly that they leave to make noob clans.) This is also a phase where they continue playing with clanless because they're not always interested in or invited into larger clan games; there are other reasons too, and these are not pervasive.

Lately, I have rarely played games with clanless, unless it's someone I know or they come with a recommendation. Most clanless games simply aren't fun because you can mow people down without trying. New clannies like joining these because they're generally better than the others, thus it's sort of an ego boost. Same deal with most "clan vs ..." games where clanless can join. It's part social psychology too: we enjoy being around those whom we relate in situations we enjoy.

As for the HELL issue. It's difficult to screen character depth when they join too. People often act differently in relation to their competition.

    And thanks!

It seems to be that way that each skill level plays their own, with some occasional drifting between the levels. I guess I haven't found that kind of connection that you mention yet. But I think that playing all types can make you a better player, or maybe get some helpful advice.
