Default Crown of Aragon sergeant spearmen (request)

Hi all, I have a quick question, and if anyone is feeling particularly generous- a mod request. A VERY small mod. I have always wanted to play the Crown of Aragon (unit types, location, background ect...) However I have always been deterred from playing due to the one fact that their ONLY spear unit is militia until the late period. I understand there may be balance reasons behind this but with the copious amount of cavalry the AI likes to recruit, Sergeant Spearmen seem like almost a necessity for a European country... Castile seems to have a similar problem but I'm not as interested in playing them..

Any advice on HOW to make a sergeant spearmen unit for aragon ( I have limited experience with EDU ect.. but I'm fairly certain photoshop would be necessary (dont have ), or interest in making one I'd surely appreciate it.

PS: how long does a damn Jihad/Crusade last? I've been defending Constantinople for like 20 turns vrs Jihadins Muslims

Thanks and +rep to all who make an effort to help!

Part of the joy of playing the different factions is learning to use their strengths to your advantage and learning to cope with their shortfallings, giving Aragon Spearmen Sergeants would make the experience of playing them less unique don't you think?

Just take solace in the fact that later on they get one of the best Pike units (Terico Pikemen) and Cavalry will bother you no longer.

Well i aggre with hippacrocafish but if you want to make them available you need to open the EDU find the line of sergeants spearmen and add the castile at the unit's owners.
Also i think that you will have to modify the describe bulding file and put to the barracks of castile the ability to recruit them.

Just to make sure ask someone else

I have done that but without designing a skin onto the model we have "silver surfer" Sergeants lolz.

And a CTD when editing the ownership in the EDB

I understand the uniqueness ect, and I agree... but not having a spearmen seems like a huge flaming disadvantage that is much larger than other factions disadvantages. Just my personal opinion, but I know for a fact that just 1 unit of heavy cavalry will roll over any army without spears- even if picked off by archers/crossbow men a small cavalry charge is devastating.

Don't want to seem annoying or anything, just voicing my opinion.

I think that you own highly skilled longbowmen who can also plant stakes.
    Longbowmen easily kill cavarly.
I tell you this because i have played with england before

Yes they are the Basque Archers. They are very powerful indeed, however require a large city I believe, and obviously are recruited in a city which in itself makes them a pain.

Yeah I'm playing and England campaign now and longbowmen are very dangerous all around.

You don't need Photoshop. There is a free program called GIMP that is similar to Photoshop(you can find the downloads in the mod worshop). If you browse around the mod workshop abit, you'll find it wouldn't be a huge project to undertake, not to mention modding makes for an interesting learning experience that could lead to more things.

I have always had a very large interest in skinning, as there are a few mods I want to expedite by help with skinning ect... but I am not computer savy or very artistic. =/

Sea_snipe is correct. Go to the Mod workshop forums. There is a tutorial there specifically for adding units to a faction from another faction.
