Myth II, better than a Total War

ok, I am kind of bias to this post and I dont want to rage or anything but im co-hosting this years myth world cup tourement the longest running tournement for a game 10 years. I did this promotional video and then I keep comparing it to Shogun War and any other total war as a RTS and I keep seeing how poorly made the total war series are done.

The only difference between this game is that 1 man in myth is represented by 60. the same idea's and concepts apply in combat. Admitidly there is no campaingn map for myth but it does not excuse some of the terrible AI in Empire/Napoleon Total War.

So anyway click on my Signiture Banner, Take a look at all the modifcations for this 1 game. Rememering that all these are different games with all hand made skins ect. You may Recoignise some of the music from RTR.

Myth 2 is about ten times better then the unmodded MTW2.

You obviously have never played Myth II , because for one there is no basebuiling.

Secondly the units has factors like experince and terrain that effect the projectiles being more accurate. Arrows in this game litterly fly and are random. The battlefeild debris can effect the gameplay also like a lying sword on the battlefeild can react to explosions from your units and theirs making the sword fly and hit your units randomly.

Weather also effects your dwarven grenades, so throwing grenades can snuff out bottles in the rain which lay on the battlefeild and can be used later to your advantage by using another grenade or a flame arrow to ingite and explode on enemy units.

This is in no way like age of empires II, perhaps the same graphics which is 10 years old and understandable. But if your comparing a game for its graphics then you shoudnt be casting a opinion on stratergy games.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeE0mQZ6H-0 a sachel bomb, a techneque and stratergy that basicly using ghol (the black units) have the ability to pick up any objects including body pieces which dont do damage but are funny when you throw dwarf heads ect. Anyway you can pick up a sachel charge and a pus (explosive item) attack a far superior melle unit and lure them in because your units are weaker, only to drop the bomb and kill all their high quality units while sacrificing your lower ones.

Age of Empires II does not have this kind of gameplay where the lower units are useful always. Such as how the undead can permenently hide in the water and ambush.

actually your wrong. Myth II is an RTS just like total war is. Its just a lot harder to classify myth 2 because it is extremly unique just like total war is.

Yeah, it looks more like a glorified action game with an isometric camera angle and multiple characters being controlled at once than an RTS. It doesn't really look similar to Total War at all, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just seems like the two aren't really comparable. By the way, shouldn't this be in the "Other Games" forum?

Its obvious you did not understand the reason for me posting that video of the 2 dwarves.

Looking at the Dwarf on the far superior ground can obviously fire twice as far, the bottles do explosive damage and would kill that other dwarf in one hit if he got damaged.

The bottom dwarf uses micro management (somthing you obviously have not got) to sway past the top dwarf grenades and uses the blast impact of the grenade to smack the blade on the ground into the dwarf.

The actual terrain such as that sword can be used to your advantage, its not all about who gets the most shots in, this is why it is a superior game because it takes into account things like that sword getting blown into the dwarfs face.

As this game is indeed uniquie its hard to compare it to any game let alone TW, yet compare it I must, since it is after all over 11 years old and makes TW pale in comparison in terms of detail and tactics.
