    Default Campaign start date.

Basically I want to create a mod which changes the start date from 1080 to 1380 and use half year turns.

These are the required changes I've found so far -

    descr_strat.txt -

    start_date 1380 summer
    end_date 1530 winter
    timescale 0.50
Set up the mongols and timurids with some starting regions
Increase the populations and developement across the board for all regions.
    Change who starts with what.

    descr_events.txt -

Remove any event with a date earlier than 300.

    campaign_script.txt -

Remove any entries based on dates in descr_events.txt

    EDU/EDB -

Change the Mongol and Timurid units so they function the same as normal factions. (recruiting, maintainence etc)

Is there any thing else I would need to edit or remove?

Remove the dead till resurrected entry from the mongols and timurids in descr_strat.txt file.
Delete the horde entries & spawned_on_event entry from the descr_sm_factions.txt file as well for the above case.
U might also want to edit the dates in descr_mercenaries.txt file.
Apart from that i can't think of any other file.

You can probably leave the horde stuff so that if they lose their last settlement they can horde (assuming horde on its own works similar to how it did in BI).

I just remembered something else I wanted to ask.

How would I de-pope the Pope? eg - remove the excommunication power. By 1380, papal power was much diminished and the crusades were all but over.

In the file descr_sm_factions.txt under the entry of papal_states delete the entry highlighted in red.
    Code:
    faction papal_states
    culture southern_european
    religion catholic
    special_faction_type papal_faction
    symbol models_strat/symbol_papacy.CAS
    rebel_symbol models_strat/symbol_rebels.CAS
    primary_colour red 239, green 239, blue 239
    secondary_colour red 221, green 176, blue 69
    loading_logo loading_screen/symbols/symbol128_papal_states.tga
    standard_index 3
    logo_index FACTION_LOGO_PAPAL_STATES
    small_logo_index SMALL_FACTION_LOGO_PAPAL_STATES
    triumph_value 5
    custom_battle_availability yes
    can_sap yes
    prefers_naval_invasions no
    can_have_princess no
    has_family_tree no
Apart from that i can't think of anything else. It will be just a normal faction and can be destroyed also.

Except that the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, roman or an empire.

It was, even if in name only.

HRE was like a Nazi empire for the Italians and the papacy at that time.

    Back on topic.

With descr_events.txt and event requirements in export_descr_buildings.txt.

These are the modded events. I wasn't really sure how to edit campaign_script.txt (I suck at scripting) so I moved the Mongol and Timurid invasion events forward a bit.

One question I have is about gunpowder discovered event.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Code:
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
    ;;;;;;;;;;  MODDED EVENT LIST  ;;;;;;;;;;;
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

    ; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
    event historic gunpowder_discovered
    date 2 4
    movie event/gunpowder_invented.bik

    event historic first_piano
    date 20

    ; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
    event historic world_is_round
    date 20 28

    ; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
    event historic mongols_invasion_warn
    date 32 40

    event historic first_oil_painting
    date 40

    event historic science_de_docta_ignorantia
    date 64

    ; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
    ;TRUE TIME event historic world_is_round
    ;TRUE TIME date 366 374

    event historic first_printing_press
    date 74

    event earthquake earthquake_in_naples
    date 76
    position 157, 82

    ; ------------ CORE GAME EVENT --------------
    event historic timurids_invasion_warn
    date 80 88

    event historic malleus_maleficarum
    date 106

    event historic science_da_vinci_ornithopter
    date 112

    event historic first_watch
    date 130

Would it be easier to just remove the event from descr_events and the event requirement from the units and buildings in EDB?

    eg -
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Code:

                    recruit_pool "Cossack Musketeers" 1 0.5 4 0 requires factions { russia, } and event_counter gunpowder_discovered 1

    changed to

                    recruit_pool "Cossack Musketeers"  1   0.5   4  0  requires factions { russia, }
    .

Yes, that's what you'd do with the gunpowder event.

With regards the mongol invasion stuff just look for 'mongol' and delete any scripts which look like they are involved.

If you mess up then check the log, it's easy to learn to script because the log is usually very helpful.

Or here, I've done it for you: Attachment 101009

    Nergui, you're welcome

Ishan, I appreciate that you're being friendly and nice, I know you're a good guy, so please don't take this the wrong way. But stop it please, I don't see that it does anyone else any good, to see me praised unrealistically, and personally it just makes me feel uncomfortable about helping. Cheers
