    I have bought a new monitor and would like to change the resolution. Every time i attempt to change the resolution the game drops dwon to the task bar and task manager says it is not responding. I figure if i change the res in the "preferences" file i may be able to avoid this. With rome and medieval i believe there was such a file in the games folder but i cant find one for napoleon (steam version).

    You may want to delete the scripts folder and let the game generate a new one hopefully including your new monitor. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/69653 is the guide how. If not, you can edit the file but make it read-only so the game not overwrite it.
