Default Self-Interest: What Does It Mean To You?

Self-interest is a powerful term in political economics. Whether said or implied in a conversatiom it is taken as a truism that 'self-interest' is important in economics. My thing is I consider different people think of the word differently based on their political ideology.

What do you think it means?

the problem with "self" interest is it's very subjective what "self" is.

The EU vs the country identity for example.

Really it should be individual interest.

"The things that are important to you." Not everyone's self interest are going to be the same. What is important about self interest is not so much as what it is at any given time, it is that we are allowed to act on them in ways that do not impinge on others abilities to act on theirs.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.
