Architecture (Latin architectura, from the Greek ἀρχιτέκτων – arkhitekton, from ἀρχι- "chief" and τέκτων "builder, carpenter") can mean:
- The art and science of designing and erecting buildings and other physical structures.
I have, recently, been perusing through the current threads on this forum and I have found myself rather surprised by the general lack of discussion about Architectural wonders and specific styles of architecture. So, I have decided to create a thread with the aims of gathering discussion around architecture, namely; your favourite style and specific examples which, you feel, stand out as perfect examples of such.
Seeing as I have created the thread, I will start the ball rolling. My favourite style of Architecture has to be Renaissance Baroque, purely because it is soo opulent in its design. What with the hugely ornate frescoes, the abundance of light and the beautifully grand exterior façades being soo common in buildings influenced by Baroque style, it is hard to not admire the time and effort which must have been put into these workings of art.
