    Default WW1 Total War

Since Total war is following timeline and we are getting closer and closer to modern age warfare. I believe it is safe to say that World War 1 Total War shouldnt be too far off. Does anyone believe WW1 Total war would ever be done and if so, do you think it would have success compared to other titles?

Actually, Total War games tend to go back and forth. Shogun was later than MTW was later than RTW.

Ancient China Total War is hopefully more likely .

Well, its most likely to have a multitude of bugs as Air and Land battles will have to be implemented into the game.
But, if the game is bugless and is on a larger scale than previous TW games, than yes, I could see it being a huge success.
Although I believe there will be a RTW II before any new TW Titles.

To be honest, I think the technology already exist to make it happen. The only thing I'm wondering is, will the Total War Franchise go that far? I basically stopped at Empire, medieval is more my type of game then anything else. But by seeing Empire and shortly after Napoleon, which basically aint that far behind world war 1, the question kept creeping out of my mind, will they go that far or stop at Napoleon?

I always wonder how air combats would be. I mean, let's suppose i CA made a WW2 TW. I have 3 Spitfires into a battle. I'm not moving them. How would they stay? I mean, planes don't simply stay floating into the sky, without doing anything, lol. This would be a problem :X

I'd like a Medieval 3: 476-1530 :x . Rome 2 would be cool... since i never played it. But it would be cool to have an game encompassing since Ancient egypt until the fall of rome. But it would be too much time... ( more than 2000-3000 years. )

well the way they operate the units in total war games was unused in WW1 and WW2 and all fallowing wars as the new way of combate is very lose flowy movements of 1 or a few guys so it wouldn't seem very realistic to me as i know a crap load about WWII and a bit about WWI and there taktics are quit diverse compared to the way the civil war and predisesor wars that were fought in blocks of men not like the modern group of 5 guys going gorila styal and killin 50 guys by themself. so if they do the way TW combat is fought would have to change dramaticaly or it will be horibly historicaly inacurate and for me at least it would also be unfun. so if u want a WWII game buy men of war. very bloody and more historicaly acurate (and very, VERY bloody ). or to save time and money u can even play a game online called warfare 1914 for WWI or warfare 1944 for WWII. look for them on google there good free games (minerly bloody )

I believe that WW1 battles were no real different then previous era battles, the only difference I see is more machines. Early versions of tanks, early versions of machine guns among other things. Trenches would most likely be added. Dont know about airplanes though. But most of WW1 were massives trench war involving thousands of infantry.

"Killing 3 million innocent people for nothing" war, that's the way to spell it I wish TW would stay what it is and stick to shields and swords. No need to go "modern" as everyone else in the majority of game types.

True, beside I admit, WW2 and beyond would mostly hit a heavily saturated game market.

I wouldn't like to play a WW1 or WW2 game, I bought the Empire game and found it a big turnoff. Perhaps a different theatre of war without the Europeans would be a better game, an example would be the conflicts between the major tribes of the Americas. Sioux, Cheyenne, Cherokees and Apache to name but a few would work quite well with the Med2 engine, missions would also come from the spirits of the ancestors etc what do you think?.

Players are more enthusiastic to play with swords and shields rather then guns and canons.
After Shogun 2 most of us are expecting Rome 2.

If it ever happens that series moves on to WW1 kinda thing it would be fun see features like Women spies etc.

They will stick to wars with glory, banners, trumpets, treachery, bravery, valour and dastardly acts, not the grey industrial grind of human blood and flesh that was WW1.
