    Default how to unpack

i have version 1.03 of medieval 2 total war, but when i unpack, the unpackers sais it's version 1.0, or is that something else?

and if i unpack the game, do i have to make back-ups/ or delete things?

Check the proper version by going under the game options. The version is mentioned at the right top corner.
The unpacker never comes with the v1.0 i suppose the error must be something else.
Also make sure u disable the UAC before unpacking.

    No

The unpacker runs from the unpack_all.bat or unpack_americas.bat. Unpack.exe is not stand alone so its version number is immaterial.

What version of Windows are you using?
What is the path to your Medieval II Total War folder?

    1. unpacker can't find file - known bug, simply copy the missing file from the med2 directory into the unpacker directory
    2. deleting stuff - check the readme file, it will tell you about two files that need deleting
    3. version numbers - don't worry about that, if you have the unpacker, then that's all you need to be concerned about

export_descr_buildings.txt is in the data folder. If you unpacked with Vista or 7, check the virtual store.

Common a little effort is appreciated. The files are sorted in alphabetical order it isn't that hard to find the one your looking for. Your other alternative is to use the the utility that all Microsoft OS' posses called search.

Like Sir Ron said it's in the data folder only, not in any of it's sub folders. You can generally see it and the bottom of data folder.

Do you have a modfolder for all the changes you want to make yet?

It does not matter as much where Microsoft puts them to protect you from yourself, but to get the ones you want to modify in one place.

i don't have a sperate folder for my modded file, i change the original files in the original folder (mostly i take back-ups) and everything works perfectly

i am still looking for 2 files
    -expanded.txt
    -campaign_descriptions.txt

after that, i have my own faction thanks to u guys and the tutorial of selenius4tsd
