So I find myself sitting inside on this hot July evening. I'm bored, and I don't like being bored, if I'm bored I smoke more and as I am trying to cut down this isn't a good thing.

I flick through the channels, and I see Kingdom of Heaven is just about to start. Great, I like that film, Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom, the bad guy from the first Dragonheart. Awesome.

So who do I see in the first 5 mins. None over than Michael Sheen, before his roles as Lucien and Tony Blair propelled him into Hollywood. My god, who is that, Philip Glennister? Before he was Gene Hunt? Surely not? Awesome.

What famous, big, popular monies have you seen where you have noticed actors who you notice now, but at the time of its creation you wouldn't have?

    I'll short list a few I've noticed.

    - Platoon features a very young Johnny Depp.
    - Apocalypse Now features R Lee Ermy as a helicopter pilot.
    - Island at War features a pre Life on Mars Philip Glennister

Watch out for Glennister in Hornblower, and that was like 4 years before Kingdom of Heaven. Also Sharpe 1997.

Elize Dushku was Arnold's daughter in True Lies.
Natalie Portman was Pacino's daughter in Heat.

Wasn't their first roles, but didn't even notice them till I re-watched the movies later on.

Speaking of Hornblower. Jamie Bamber from Galactica fame was Horatio's good buddy.

Elijah Wood was some kid in the arcade in Back to the Future II.

Did you know he still does carpentry work on the movie sets for the films he's in? In Firewall he'd get thrown through the door, get right up, help the set carpenters put a new door on, and then get thrown through it again for another take. The bad guy in that movie who's 20 years younger than Ford said to bet on Ford in a straight fight.

Did you know that sometimes, between movies, when he was short of cash, he'd work for his brother in his grounds maintenance business. People would wake up to find Han Solo cutting their lawn.

In the Sherlock Holmes series by Granada studios (the one with with the grandiose Jeremy Brett) I've seen a young Jude Law as a stable boy. Boy, did he look weird with his singular eyebrow...
In that same series I've also seen Marina Sirtis as the daughter of some Italian family, with an extremely bitter look on her face... So beautiful and at the same time somewhat disturbing.

Only recently I've noticed that the guy that plays Dr. Kelso in Scrubs also appeared in an episode of Star Trek - TNG. He looked just as old then, already.

I feel stupid for forgetting now. That's probably my favourite all time movie. The late Dennis Hopper as well.
