    Hi All

    With the thought of Umbar as a pssible costum map, I have a question about a map asset: Ships
    In the teutonic campaign i Kingdoms Vanilla, there is a historical battle which features a viking invasion on a beach - and it has ships !

    These ships are included in a historical battle in The Britannia Campaign, and I would like to point out that this ressource exist.
    But how can they be made/ported into a costum map ex of a great harbour like umbar?

    EDIT: had a talk with Inarus about making this map, and he pointed the problem out:

    "Interesting, well if you tell me precisely how to extract the pack file so that I can get the model file then I will attempt to place it in TATW and then I will see if I can make the map. Thing is that everyone who downloads the map will need the boat file, looks a bit impossible. I can hardly spread around official files.

    But you will need to give me PRECISE details about how to extract the submod files because I have tried plenty of command lines on that extracter.

    Meanwhile I will look through some beautiful maps of Beleriand I found on the internet. I need a new location"
    Could anyone help solve this issue?

    hmmm no idea

    i've seen them in a ETW campaign battle as well

    What you are linking to is a youtube video of an intro movie to the teutonic campaign, not a historic battle. In fact I thought that the kingdoms campaigns didn't have historic battles, but more setups for multiplayer matches. The intro movies do not always reflect things that are possible in the game itself, but are meant for atmosphere.

    Isn' t the movie simply a video file and not an actual game file? Maybe you could cut and past a 2d image from the video but the video file doesn't contain a 3d model of the ship for the game itself. Question is whether there is an actual 3d model for the background in any of the custom battle or historical battle maps. Those you can work with. But not the intro video, at least not with the outcome desired.

    I know that Rome used to have background models for its maps of ships and harbors. If you had a certain # of ships in the port or blockading on the campaign, those same number of ships would show up on the battle map. Cool thing I thought, but I have not noticed that consistency in MTW2. Maybe just missing something.

    they're not in the tectonic historical battles (though i'm sure i've seen them before somewhere else)

    I guess they would have to be a building model shaped like a ship???

    EDIT: found them there in a britannia historical battle

    May be there is a way you can get the ship model from the kingdom: britannia folder somewhere

    I can't unpack the kingdoms files to find it can anyone help with this???

    A step by step guide would be best

    Ok i'm trying to make the map with the ships a custom battle in TATW, here is how far i've got:

    All I have done so far is get the map to show on the 'choose battle' screen it does not yet allow me to play battles on it.

    Hopefully I soon will be able to get it working, can anyone help with this???

    HOW DID YOU GET BOATS????!!!

    EDIT: Oh I get it. Ignore that.

    I think the problem would be that there are unknown features in that file (THE BOATS).

    I'm trying to find that out now

    First you have to unpack your britannia campaign folder if you have not yet done so

    Then open:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\british_isles\data\settlements\water
    and copy all the files there

    Next open:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\settlements\water
    and paste the files here

    Thanks for this too i really want those danish boats in my battle editor x)
    BTW, how do i make to the spanish galleys of the americas campaign appear with their own textures,danish boats are fine, but spanish galleys appear tottaly black.
