    Default Unit size?

Hey guys. Just curious to see what unit size people use for this mod? I downloaded it yesterday and am really enjoying it. I didnt realize the default setting for unit size was normal so that's what i am stuck with in my campaign. considering restarting with large or huge, but before i do I thought I would ask here!

I use huge because I just like bigger battles. I find when you go for bigger sizes the cavalry tend to become better which is a bit annoying but it works both ways. Lots of people prefer smaller scales because there's a bit more tactics involved apparently. I haven't tried so I wouldn't have a clue, but that's what I've heard.

Also, huge and presumably large unit sizes are a bit annoying in siege battles when you can't fit all your little people on the walls.

good points. thanks for the reply. on normal the units are definitely easier to maneuver. battles are a little less epic though.

And you sadly miss out on watching those 80 lancers (or likely more because they'll have more units) riding down your poor little [insert any unit from the game here]. Wait...that's a good thing.

I like normal battles since my computer can't really handle larger sizes unless I turn the quality down, but I like it that way since it makes units easier to place in city streets and on walls.

Smaller sizes allow you to make more precise tactical manuevers, but I play on huge unit sizes because I like to feel like I'm fighting big battles and not just little skirmishes.

I tend to play normal unit sizes, having played from MTW1, Rome, then MTW2 and Kingdoms, with some additional mods added.
Firstly becuse my original machine couldn't cope with the larger sizes
secondly because I dont play this to sow the fields of battle with huge numbers of dead, even if they are 'just' pixels
thirdly because the walls etc aren't geared for the larger unit sizes, at least until you get up to large/epic walls.
fourthly because tactical skill is how I prefer to win battles, not just turning them into attritional slogs which is what some of the larger ones can end up as.
lastly, because bodyguard units are so strong, that the huge unit size makes them overpowered within a battle, IMO.

Not in order of preference. Note that in Rome, unit recruitment also reduced the population of the habitat, which was another reason for not choosing large size, although handy for boosting the smaller villages etc as disbanding a unit inside a habitat boosted the population by that number

It's under "Game" options and once you've started a campaign, you can no longer change it for that campaign. But you're free to change it for new campaigns or custom battles.

I play large unit sizes as i find its the best mix of what i want and what my comp can handle.

PC starts craping aout about the 5200 man mark, so with large I can get about 4400 with 2 full stacks going head to head, and the battles still feel large and epic, and still allows for a little more movement options.

I will be playing tomorrow sometime. However, being retarded (yes, that is my conclusion), has a hard time getting through battles now with some of the lowest settings.

Will large size units make things a lot slower? ... I'm just not sure if its worth slowing down too much.
