Hi there.
There is an abundance of historical events, but besides earthquakes, floodings, storms and vulcanoes (and maybe more) none really affects gameplay. The number of game-generated events that has influence, rebellions, slaves and so on, more than makes up for that. There is a notice of Jesus, but no more.

The only ones i remember is the invention of clear glass, and the first building of concrete, but i never played lang enough to see events past 150BC

Not really. There are gladiator revolts occasionally in Spain, but none in Capua. RTW is kind of ahistorical in that regard but just enjoy it for what it is. Download RTR or EB for a more historical game play.
Well - when playing as Julii - the march on Rome
Playing as any faction: Marius reforms
Those off course do affect your campaign directly
Disasters - they can handycap you in reducing your income in the given regions or delaying your
movement in there.
stoic philosophy, hand pump invented, through a glass clearly, archimedes screw, greek logic, star catalogue, rites of
bacchus banned, concrete invented, philosophy is foolish, astronomy advances, lex aebutia, roman stoicism,
lex papira, vestal virgin struck down, de rerum natura, lex pompeia, a new religion, de materia medica, julian calender,
the aeneid, lex adulteriis coercendis, trouble in judea, lex fufia cantinia
Those listed above trigger nothing but a message popping up.
