Default Impression of Westeros Total war so far...

I am a big fan of the books, and when I saw this mod I was excited to see the world of "Song of ice and fire" in a Medieval 2 TW engine.

First of all thanks to all the team for spending their time on making this mod.

But I have one big criticism, I am very disappointed in the mod because of such immense use of pure vanilla models in the game. The world of Westeros is a unique place and it deserves unique units, and I don't speak out of profession I am a skinner myself and learning how to model and I know how hard is to make a new unit but please hear me out.

If you guys menage to make brand new roosters in your factions with brand new custom units, and not just edited vanilla ones, this mods popularity will be increased 100 times.

Hoping you take these words in to consideration, sincerely:

    Master Necromancer.

Well, if you read the many threads here you`ll see that we are indeed reskinning every unit; Some even get new models. The current public release is just an alpha, to show how the game will be at it`s very core.

Yet, not every man at arm will get a new model. The medieval 2 models fit them quite well, and the knight models are also looking good. Those will "simply" be reskinned.

However, we have many custom generals which have unique models. Oh, and if you see the Martell Preview, which is stickied, i think that all your worries will be gone.

Martell preview looked really cool alright. And I think that reskinning vanilla units is no problem. I mean the armies in the books fit medieval time units. And of course not every unit is a reskinned vanilla one.

    rules all

Yes but I've also seen the Grayjoy one and there are no good vanilla models for them.

In any way this mod is great and when version 1.0 is out be sure I'll be making a submod for it.

You are right, for certain factions the models could be enhanced. That`s matter of time though. First everything gets finished and then we might polish certain aspects.

We`ll look forward to your submod.

i think that the ritterbruder from the teutonic expansion could give a big hand for the knights' models

It would be cool to use that model and re-skin it. Those helmet crests look like they would fit in with the Northmen, and the old gods. Armor is about right too, it is upgradable to plate, but is not too advanced looking (like lancers or gendarmes). It could fit well with other factions as well, but would be coolest for the Starks.

The Gotland Footmen would look cool for the Greyjoys maybe....

Some of the Scottish looking units could maybe be used as rebels in the vale? Or as northern clansmen? We never get any dscriptions of kilts for anyone however.

    Rep for both of you!

As the other team members said, I can guarentee that even units simply "reskinned" will look wildly different from vanilla, and as I believe it was stated on the previous previews, not all models/skins shown are final. Once we get to a certain point we will touch-up/double-check everything to make sure it's of the highest standard.

So, you will release the mod, right before Game of Thrones is broadcasting and after that, you overhaul the complete mod, so it looks like the TV series?

Likely not. Unless we get inspiration that changes our mind. But we certainly won`t change units just for the sake of adapting them to the series.

in case you think the rooster of some faction (like Frey's) is less developed, why not adding a modified teutonic order militia?

Who does the teutonic order militia represent in westeros - the faith militant - the order of the stars and swords? (or whatever theyre called).

nothing exactly, but, like many vanilla units, I think the teutonic militia, with changed colors, could fit very well in Westeros
It doesn't have to be necessarily a "religious" unit
