You were absolutely right. I asked for help one of my friends, who lives in the same city as I do and he is just as big Fanboy of MythTFL as I am.
I believe it's easier to work with someone, I can have a personal meeting and discussion about the project.

Thx. I wish I could make a tutorial, but that would just take some more time. As you see I don't have that much lately.
One thing I can tell. Basically I'm cheating. I mean, this unit doesn't even have anything on its "normal map"..every crates and folds, bumps, are placed and made on diffuse.
For the texture I'm always using different kind of free photos from the internet. I have a collected images of 50-60 for this guy and I'm using just small parts of them..my texture in photoshop has 214 layer with different kind of layer blending modes..opacity etc..
there are parts which painted by hand but most of the time I mix these photos until I get the best result.
another thing is the UV. I don't use planar or cylindarical mapping techniques and I don't have that much variations either. I make a seam on the model and I relax its UV, by body parts(check spoiler).
This way there will be no stretched textures.
The UV coodinates are bigger so I can have a more detailed textures, unfortunately I can't fit too much variations with this size but I'm OK with that. (I'm usig the attachments texture to have more variations)
Maybe I could place the UVs more economically but I'm not that pro.

Awesome. Do they actually move slower than infantry with regular animation?
Yes. They do. I used the original 2HandedAxe walking and I changed the animation and the distance they take in the walkcyle.
I couldn't use any parameter for speed in the EDU cause its not Kingdoms-mod. I had to make this changes manually.
for running I use the same animation, so you can't force them to move faster Maybe I should change this and add a slightly faster walk movement for running.
Although I didn't change the charge, they can charge but from a very close distance. I think this sudden charge makes them scary.

I have to say that I might try and get this game now (Myth).
Please Legio, just try it. You wont mind it. This game is old but still, it has the "magic" which makes a game very original and immortal.
The mood is just awesome and the gameplay along with the challenge are all of the features what made this game favourite of lots.
I believe, even if I could finish this mod, the final result won't be nearly as awesome as the original game was(except graphics and campaign possibilities)
