Fort Artillery

How do you get fort artillery to fire? I have seen the AI do it, but I can get my troops to man the guns.

Stand your men literaly along the wall next to the gun and crossing over it if you can.

If your men are near the cannon, and the enemy is in range of it, they will fire.

Are you sure because I have tried that and still nothing?

That is most definatly how it works.

Your problem might lie in that the enemy is not close enough or that maybe the unit your using doesn't use cannons, (I use line Inf).

Other than that, you can check if they are actualy using the cannon by zooming in and seeing if there are 2 men manning it.

you need to be on fire at will. if your dudes are not on fire at will they will not fire the cannon

So they have to be line infantry and not militia, that might be my problem.

militia and armed citizenry can. But they have to be positioned just right to do it - currently I have no idea how to get them to do it consistenly, sometimes hey will just stand at the wall. Sometimes the AI will just stand there too!

Works for me every time i place a unit of line infantry, AI always use the mounted fortress guns everytime i play a siege. Used them myself just now, had a battle for Berlin with 27.000 Troops in all. Noticed the fortress guns are very accurate with the last patch (Or it's just me that haven't played a siege in ages), and think i saw them fire canister shots a couple of times too, don't know, was hard to see at the end with 16.000 casualties on the battlefield. Anybody know if the fortress guns are able to fire canister shots?

I got them to work, but it is really hit or miss. CA need needs to do something like what they did for walls, where you can click the wall and the troops automatically mount the cannons and shoot over the wall. Now for wall all I need to do is figure out a way to get the troops to line against the side of the wall away from the enemy everything will be fine.

1. Line your infantry unit up along the wall with the cannons.
2. Wait for enemy to be in range of your infantry unit.
3. "click attack" the approaching enemy with your infantry unit on the wall...they will automatically go to the cannons and begin firing with them in addition to firing with muskets
