Comitatenses vs. Plumbatarii

Hey Im fairly new to BI, however I've been into vanilla Rome TW for awhile.

I noticed that Comitatenses and Plumbatarii are virtually the same. They have an upkeep, recruitment cost, and combat stats (melee & missle attack, armour and defense,) that are identical.

There are only two differences between these units:

1)Plumbatarii carry more projectiles.
2) Under the "Abilities at a Glance" section, Plumbatarii are listed as having "good stamina," whereas the Comitatenses have a blank spot there.

Given their otherwise identical stats, Plumbatarii seem to be the best choice for recruitment.

My question is, what's the catch? Are Comitatenses obsolete now? Of course, this is totally ignoring the fact that I can buy a Comitatenses First Cohort.

Well if you can get Plumbs don't take comitatenses, they have same upkeep and they are better equiped.

Comitatenses first cohort I suppose they can beat Plumbs but I think it's harder spamming them and also if you want to play "historically" you'll only have a First per army

I prefer Plumbatarii, they throw more pointy things at the enemy.
