I know that CA bundled a Royal Scots Greys DLC with one of their various sales packages, however has anyone else created a mod of this unit? I've heard it mentioned, but I've never seen it. Would be a nice unit to have.

It is illegal to mod in DLC units or any DLC for that matter.
Unless you obtain them by buying them or whatever it's not possible to get them, I don't have them either I don't think.

Well GB's republican cavalry guards look just like them.

It is illegal to unlock, without purchase, the DLC units.
You can, however, make a mod that contains a unit of the same type with the same name, description, stats, etc. without problems. You can even make your OWN texture for it (and could also make your own model is we could make models.)
So its legal if I dont use original files? If I build up my own royal scots greys?
yes it is, modding is not illegal, altering dlc files that not everybody bought is.
the thing here is purchase, when you purchase it you can do your own mod, although you can't pass it, since people that didn't purchase the content could get the units for free, it can be considered piracy

Hence why I said modding in. As in, creating a mod that introduces in the content. Not modding it in general.
But as l33t said, just get someone to change a melee skill of the unit by 1 and give it to you lol..
relax the answer was for he op

I was refering to l33t's quote of my post. But I don't mean anything by it lol..

Why CA hasn't released the pre order units yet is a mistery. You can't pre order the game anymore so they should like good Samaritans hand them over to the community.
Just to clarify if there was any confusion, I would not be interested in a 'modded in' DLC that I had not purchased. Although CA can copyright the code they used to depict any particular unit, they can't copyright the unit. So someone else could create their own version of any such unit and not infringe on what is quite correctly CA's property. It is illegal to mod in DLC units or any DLC for that matter.

And also, I believe I own everything CA has published, certainly all the various TW titles and DLCs. PC game piracy is massive and a serious threat to the industry being able to continue. I support the companies that produce the games I like with my dollars. However, moddability is a major criteria for my game choices. Companies like CA and Bethesda produce games that live on my HD a very long time, but it is the modders that move their games from good to great. If they are rational, more PC game companies will include ease of modding to their game design.
