    Default Salvia divinorum

Salvia divinorum (also known as Diviner's Sage, ska Marķa Pastora, Seer's sage, and by its genus name Salvia) is a psychoactive plant which can induce dissociative effects. Its native habitat is within cloud forest in the isolated Sierra Mazateca of Oaxaca, Mexico, growing in shady and moist locations. The plant grows to over a meter high.

Psychedelic experiences are necessarily somewhat subjective and variations in reported effects are to be expected. Aside from individual reported experiences there has been a limited amount of published work summarising the effects. D.M. Turner's book Salvinorin—The Psychedelic Essence of Salvia Divinorum quotes Daniel Siebert's summarisation, mentioning that the effects may include:
    Uncontrollable laughter
Past memories, such as revisiting places from childhood memory
Sensations of motion, or being pulled or twisted by forces
Visions of membranes, films and various two-dimensional surfaces
    Merging with or becoming objects
Overlapping realities, such as the perception of being in several locations at once
It is legal in most countries in the world, and seems to have few negative effects (as opposed to other smokeable plants) Should it remain legal or be criminalized?

Well, its effects (psychologically) are even stronger than marijuana for many. So if we are to follow the logic that marijuana should be illegal, then salvia should be as well. However, I'm of the opinion that marijuana should be legalized....sooooooo, ya.

I think it's one of those "drugs" (calling plants drugs seems strange to me) that is legal because no one's figured out they are supposed to be the moral police about it yet. Though salvia from what I hear doesn't cause anything remotely resembling a euphoric effect, and it more rips out your mind and makes you feel completely insane than makes you feel good, so the odds of it catching on as a common recreational drug are small.

Lol sure keep it legal whatever.

I tried it once with my friends to be edgy, also because we couldnt believe such a hard drug could be legal.

Smoked it out of a home made bong and holy

I cant even describe to you what happened, it was 4 dimensional, not to mention it felt longer than a year

Never doing it again, never. Its like going to an alternate reality that makes no sense and total sense at the same time where ANYTHING can happen.

    Keep it legal, user beware

It didn't do anything to me. And I had it with herbal...supplements.

It's illegal here in Estonia even though I think I'm one of the only people who has heard of it. A shame.

You are estonian? Shocker? You sure? You aren't hallucinating you are in estonia (or estonian?) because someone has been slipping you salvia?

Huh always interesting for me when I meet someone whose second language is superior to most native speakers.

    Congrats.

There is another psychoactive plant who may be very familiar to you, it's called Morning Glory/Ippomea Tricolor.

I just planted it on my fence

Salvia should remain legal. Nobody can give a good reason why it should be illegal, but of course we don't need a reason to make drugs illegal anymore. Everyone in this world is so ing stupid.

Why it should be legal you might ask? Because you won't want to do it more than once.

I haven't had morning glory, but there are similar seeds called Hawaiian Baby Woodrose that also are legal and contain LSA.

LSA disappointed me, all that happened was I saw stars and swastikas everywhere.

Salvia divinorum is an poor alternative to marijuana. I did research on it some time last year out of curiosity. The consensus among veteran hippies is that its effects are weaker, the high isn't as good, users tend to smoke more of it to get any kind of high, the incidence of nausea is greater, and then there's the bad taste, and smell that many people dislike. I'm no hippy though, so I'm not a good judge.

However, other varieties of Salvia are great for gardening, giving nice variation to a small garden with their spike flowers and colourful blooms.

You can't compare marijuana and salvia... The two are totally different drugs. You barely get any psychedelic effects from marijuana, with Salvia you fly into ing space.
