Rather than creating two different topics I'll ask both questions here...

First, what sequels, prequels, trilogies, reboots, etc should never have been made and why? This could be for reasons such as the fact that the films diluted the characters/plot/subject matter, unsuccessfully tried to top the original, were just plain terrible, etc

Secondly, which films out there SHOULD have sequels or films related to them (directly or indirectly) but never did and why?

Aliens was a badass movie, probably one of my favorite sequels, anyway they should have made another Riddick movie

Riddick is getting another movie. Luckily its by the same guy as the original movie, is not a new script he just hashed together for money, and the budget isn't massive, so hopefully it won't turn into a Bay-ian effects-fest. The series isn't great, but its one of my favourite anyway. Its just the character and setting, and that its one acting job Vin Diesel can actually do well.

Yeah, people better be on drugs when such bullocks is posted. Aliens and Terminator 2 where EPIC, and are truely cult movies that have set a standard which so many other movies have tried to immitate, but failed horribly.

Pretty much this. On that note, I thought the film Collateral should have ended differently, maybe with the sequel detailing Vincent's escape from the authorities.

Star Wars after the Episode 6 decades ago when Lucas knew how to direct Star Wars movies and while the cast was still young relatively.

EDIT: Definitely Terminator series. T3 ruined the action fun of the series with poor casting and weak scripting because the guy playing John Connor doesn't have a screen appeal while T:Salvation ruined John Connor because he was overshadowed by Sam Worthington's character as the main protagonist. T:S also has a confusing plot.

Alien should have never gotten a sequel, maybe one of those well made gothicish japanese style animated prequel/sequel, but nothing official.

    Underworld Trilogy.

I love the 1st, and there should have been a sequel. But, Evolution? come on? Could have thought that out better. 3rd one was okay I guess.

    AVP 2, why?

And the Italian Job sequel, why, WHY?

I think someone (like Peter Jackson) should make the movies, starting from the beginning.

Also, I'd love a sequel/prequel to District 9, but I have no idea how the story could be continued without becoming another generic aliens vs humans film.
