    Default Digital camera?

    Hi,

I'm after a digital camera. Doesn't have to be too special beyond a) a high resolution (12MP minimum) and b) reliable and likely to last a while. I'm looking into this - http://ubuyhardware.com/p~p-18485670...---Silver.aspx - do you guys think it'd be appropriate? Any suggestions of an alternative?

    Thanks in advance!

You know, if your looking for a point and shoot digital camera, most today are going to be super reliable and do the job well. What you want to look for is the mega pixels and the zoom. Is it a digital zoom or an actual zoom. Digital basically digitally zooms in, actual the lens moves to zoom in and out, this is going to get you a much better picture.

Once you decide on those two things it comes down to features and cost. Do you want video? What feels better in your hands etc.

I've had an Olympus for nearly 5 years now and have been very satisfied with it.

Olympus is a pretty reliable brand. I was pretty sad when I had to pawn mine Of course, canon and nikon also make decent cameras. Sony is hit or miss.

Because I just got it and used it on a road trip, the Canon 7D ROCKS! So easy to use and it takes amazing pictures and the video feature is outstanding. Although the cost is a bit high at $1799 the cost benefit of a great still camera mixed with a great video camera is well worth it. So, if someone has the money and a need for a still and video camera, I highly recommend it.
