Default Total War: Age of Mukānai

    Hello Everyone,
After having looked through several articles and books and websites concerning the time period, I believe that a Mycenaean era mod for RTW would be rather entertaining and fun. I am posting this on here because I have begun formulating plans for a Modification of this time frame and I want to know what the public opinion on such a mod would be and if anyone is willing to help me with the mod. I have a Map in mind covering just about this area

And Several unit Ideas are in the works but are definitely subject to change. History is far from anywhere to being close to done, so historians are greatly needed at this point if this mod is to start. Especially specialists in the time period and people with extensive knowledge concerning Greek and Mycenaean-Greek. Someone who has some knowledge concerning Linear B would also be greatly appreciated but isn't strictly necessary. A list of Mycenaean strongholds is also being worked on, but so far we only have:

    Mycenae
    Tiryns
    Pylos
    Athens
    Thebes
    Orchomenus
    Iolkos
    Argos
    Knossos
    Troy
    Ithaca
    And Maybe Sparta

Of course this too is verrry WIP as city names will be respectively native to their lands. Same goes for most names in the game
While I will need Skinners and mappers, most needed right now are historians. But if you are a skinner or mapper and are interested, just post on here or send me a PM and I'll see if we have anything for you to do. Mappers will be needed sooner then any skinners but it really doesn't matter. Another necessity is 2d artists as I possess limited skill in such things.

One plan for the mod is to change the battle map. The cities of RTW will not do historically for TW:AoM as Mycenaean cities were in fact large palaces built on a hill with large walls around it and little houses and huts scattered around the palace/citadel. To represent this, of course, will require someone with the knowledge to edit things like this. If you can, I would greatly appreciate your help.

So finally, I will stop talking and allow you all to comment on whether or not this is a legit idea or not. If you want to help and you have skill please fill out this form in the more info box and send it to me in a pm and post it on here. If you want to join it is prefered that you join the .Org and TWC together as this will expand out options Thanks ahead if you can or if you like the idea. I'm sure this isn't everyones cup of tea but I find it rather interesting.

It may not be in your desired time era, but have you seen Troy - Total War (link)

Of course, that may be too focused on Troy, but you might be better off going for a sub mod of that, rather than a whole new full conversion mod which is quite similar

Yeah I looked at that but there was nothing in that I intended to keep save the map so i figured it'd be easier to just make a new one with better graphics then RTW maps, I.E EB maps

That's a fine idea if you have a reasonable level of modding experiance/ability to get people to join your mod, but making a whole new mod with new things for such a similar thing seems pretty.... pointless. This work required for this would normally take at least a year, but if you're orepared for that, go ahead by all means

Like always, I'm not trying to put ideas down, but I felt the need to fill you in. In the most sincere fasion possible good luck!

I'd suggest made a submod for Aristeia, you just need to reskin some models and put several changes on faction symbols

I would make a submod of those games but i'm going for a historical game not a fantasy or mythological game. I intend to take a Europa Barbarorum perspective and since Aristea is based around the mythology of the iliad i don't want to go into that, plus I don't own alex. I am considering asking for permission to use the map from Troy total war but I'm still debating.

Well, I know Aristeia is based on mythology, but made that as BI-Port and you could remove all the mythological parts, give them more balanced statting system (aristeia stats are nice and excellent for mythological-based battle reenactment, but not too historical I think), that way you didn't need to own Alex, just made submod for BI portover + historical accuracy.

*. Of course, first job is gave those pornographic-boobs amazons some shirt to worn

From what I've seen, Troy TW is ahistorical. I agree with Ghaust's decision to go down a historical road rather than a... Creative Assembly one. I'm big on historical accuracy in my games.

Anyway Ghaust, have you seen this website: http://www.salimbeti.com/micenei/index.htm

Highly recommended for weapons and warfare in the Greek Bronze Age. Many nice illustrations.
