Looking for the name of a series

It will be some years (more than 5 i think) ago. It was a bbc series about science and detective. There was this middle-aged man (smart sort of scientist), and his collague was a younger (not much younger than him) woman.

I remember one episode where there was a well with healing powers, which turned out to be heavy water, disposed by a nuclear centre nearby.

i know this is vague, but any help will be appreciated

yeah thanks it was that. Now i also know why i din't heard of it anymore, there was only one season. A pitty.
