Stainless Steel Forum

Stainless Steel fans,
I would like to announce a new forum just for Stainless Steel! King Kong has approved the creation of this forum and I do hope you guys take advantage of it. I want everyone to know that the goal of this forum is not to replace the community well established on TWC. The goal is to have a place to come just for all things Stainless Steel. Some advantages over TWC this forum will hopefully offer.

Submod teams can request develoment forums here and will get them without having to jump through the hoops one must on TWC.

A place to grow the Stainless Steel community even more.

Easy to find answers, fixes, and updates on development.

Hopefully a lot more that I just haven't thought of yet and some that I have but not sure how or if I should try to pull it off.

Get King Kongs endorcements of the forum and blessing - Done
Get modders to join and post released mods and WIPs - WIP
Get fixes and FAQ together and posted
Get some people interested in spending time there

• FAQ - Fixes - Any and all resources that benefit the SS community
• Gathering Guides - posting them and moderating/managing
• moderating and running Multiplayer forum
• Contacting AAR writers and moderating that forum if enough interest is shown.

• Moderators

I will see how this thing goes. I know many other sites like this have failed but I know the SS community is strong enough to support this forums success. Atleast I hope. If anyone is interested in contributing to this adventure please contact me. And everyone else please join and have a look around, create a thread, ask some questions, or request a development forum for your mod.


Modders - Development forums will be seen by the "mod leader/creator" only and anyone they approve to have rights to the forum. When you are ready to release your mod a forum "Submod Releases" has been created for you to post the release in.

Sounds awesome and AARS should be a great part of the site too, as I feel here they are somewhat pushed down into the catacombs of the viewing audience.

I new you would show up sooner than later. Well not you in particular but someone expressing the same concerns. First we are not starting from scratch as we will draw from content already contributed to TWC.

Now to your first question. Why? Well a few of use on the development forum for Stainless Steel 6.3 brought it up because TWC was down for 4 or 5 days. When I saw the post asking about an another option I thought why not. Other mods have done it and Stainless Steel has a large and committed following. So the chances of it working was quite high compared to most other mods.

Your second question. isn't TWC covering all these? Well yes and no. TWC offers alot but some of it is lost in the vastness of TWC and others things TWC doesn't offer without requirements. Take a submod development forum. Only a few exist on TWC and those submods are "game changers" or large enough to be stand alone mods all by themselves. This new forum currently offers development forums to anyone that is interested in developing a submod for SS. If anyone has ever tried to get a forum on TWC knows it isn't as easy has having an idea and a few guys interested in it.

Now as far as Stainless Steel porting to a new platform that would be up to KK. I don't want to speak for him and I wont but I will say SS will continue development either on the MEII engine or on another. Either KK will continue or I think others will, as gracul and a few of us are currently. Let me remind you that mods are still being developed on many of the older Total War platforms.

If you have an idea that will help the new forum more of an attraction to the SS fans please let me know.

You know TWCenter.net will always be home to Stainless Steel and myself.

With as much stuff that will be linked back to here I hope the site will contribute to TWC in the future. That may be a long time in the future but none the less. I know that is very optimistic and it is very early but a boy can dream cant he....

TWC intermittent going down and support for more sub-mods seems good idea. Although I wonder if it will be as active as the TWC forums. Probably not in the general area but easier to search and more specific is not bad. Seen alot of other mods die simply from people not knowing what is already being done. IE- start over from scratch with similar idea that already had half the work done.

A one man project makes no difference. Have a few friends of yours join and give them access to your development forum and have them test things or work through an idea. I know Byg has had his own forum on another site for a few years and says it works great for him. Many post are from him to him. I know I like having some place to post ideas (so I don't forget them) and art work just to get a feel on how it will look when presented to the public. It also works for constructing a release post.
