I'm interested in finding out what unit sizes people prefer to play with in campaign mode.

I myself love huge battles and when I think of Napoleon I always thing Large armies, death and destruction and the battlefield filled with the dead and dying.

When playing I like my units to be as near to accurate as pos but with a little additions of my own. In make up of the individual units I treat them in this way;-

    Light Cavalry(line and Elite) :1 Unit = 1 Squadron (240 men), 4 Squadrions = 1 regiment
    Heavy cavalry( line and elite): 1 Unit = 1 Squadron(160 men), 4 Squadrons = 1 regiment
    Line Infantry/line Grenadiers/Light Infantry: 1 unit = 1 Battalion (600men), 6 Battalions = 1 regiment
    Elite Infantry: 1 unit = 1 Battalion(800 men), 2 Battalions = 1 regiment

Artillery(europe) =8 guns for foot Battery, 6 guns for Horse
British= 6 Guns for foot and horse

I also put limits on the amount of units each country could recruit

Example for french: Cuirassiers had 14 regiments so 14 x 4 = recrutable limit of 56 units
    Example of Line infantry : 160 regiments so 160 x 6 = recruitable limit 0f 960 units

of course each coounry will have different limits dependant on how many regiments they had at that time historically.

I found that adopting this rule has made tha campaign more interesting anf the battles have been really impressive.

    What do you think?

Well, if you are trying to be historical correct, you got everything wrong.

Ex.: A French Line or Light Reg. in 1805 only had 2 or 3 war Bn. in the field, not 6.
Each of these Bn. had 9 companies (Line: 8 Fusiliers 1 Grenadier, Light: 7 Chasseurs, 1 Voltigeurs, 1 Carabiniers) and had a full strenght of a little over 1.000 men, not 600.

So a full French Inf. Reg. had a max. paper-strenght around 2.000 or 3.000 men on the battlefield, not 3.600.

Same with cavalry, a typical French Reg. only had 3 squadrons (each of 2 comp.) with a full strenght of under 200 each, making a Cav. Reg. containing less than 600 troopers, not 960 in your calculation.

    So, back to the drawingboard...
