    Default Should I buy it?

would I like Hearts of Iron 3: Semper Fi? I have played most of the total war games and I auto resolve most of the battles and I LOVE civ 4. This game sort of looks like a micture of the two, plus its only 20$. Does it have a steep learning curve/really complicated or will I be able to get into it after only a few hours/a day? Is it re playable? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Uhm If im not mistaken you need HOI3 + Semper Fi. So it should be more than $20. And HOI is nothing like either of those games, and yes it can have a steep learning curve, especially if this is your first HOI game.

Having said that.....once you learn everything this game is probably one of the if not the best strategy games out there. And as for re-playability theres tons. You can play any nation that exisited during the time frame, and each country has a diffrent way to be played.

I would say buy it, its decent priced, challenging, and tons of fun.....once you learn everything. But it really doesn't take that long to get a good grasp of the game.

How long is the learning curve? Are we talking a couple days (About 2-3 hours per day) or a week +?

As Cooraan said Semper Fi is the expansion to HOI 3. I would purchase both for the best experience but you need HOI3 in order to play Semper Fi.

If you auto resolve most battles in TW and you love Civ 4 that tells me the strategic experience in both of those games is what you enjoy the most. Paradox as a game company may be just up your alley considering the games they create take place entirely on a strategic map that usually covers the entire world in decent detail.

What you do in each game however actually goes into much greater detail when compared to the strat map of a TW game and even a Civ game.

The learning curve on these games are fairly high especially if you haven't played any of the early releases before. The good thing about HOI 3 though is that the entire game can be automated letting the AI run your country(with varying success) for you while you learn the in's and out's of the game. If you've never played a paradox game before, then you may spend multiple weeks learning how to do everything depending how easily you pick things up.

As far as replayability goes, HOI3 or any Paradox game for that matter scores rather high when compared to most other franchises.

I think EUIII is easier. I have yet to try HoI III.

In a similar note, I'm considering purchasing 3, having played 2 for a good 2 years, in addition to Victoria, EUIII, and Vae Victus. My question isn't if I'll like it or the difficulty, it's how buggy it is still. I played on a friend's account when it came out, and it was unbearably slow. Is this resolved yet? If so, how much better is Semper Fi, as I'd prefer to just buy the vanilla game.

Keep in mind a few things have been improved since demo before you make a decision, also check paradox forums if you want to see what state the game is as paradox games normally need quite a few months to get all the quirks ironed out with games as complex as these.

Semper Fi gets rid of the bulk of the bugs but the supply and territory ownership issues still cause some head scratching moments, though not they aren't bugs.
