Is there an alternate Spartiate Hoplite skin? Like the one released for Vanilla RTW?
Or is that one possible to use? Tried to use it and followed all instructions, but with no results so. I am not interested in a "300" look, just something a bit more spartan looking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also is this possible to incorporate into a saved game?
Thanks .
By the way Great Mod .

It's absolutely save-game compatible. I'm surprised you're having trouble, even. It's definitely do-able, and one of the easier modifications to make.
Why don't you think the current skin looks Spartan? I had a lot of trouble finding one that didn't have a cloak.

The mod is save compatible, had no problems saving and loading.
What I meant was if there wasd an alternate spartan hoplite skin out there, and if there was if this will show in an already saved game. (I remember having problems making modifications, but that these didnt show in an already saved game, only in new games).
As for the current skins, they look great. However It doesnt conjure an image of spartan hoplites. I am no expert, but their current helmets look a bit more eastern. Like the ones Thracian falxmen apparently used (by looking at the preview for the next RTR, and the current falxmen in EXRM). However I dont know that, I just know it isnt what the spartans used. Also spartan hoplites had a horsehair crest on their helmets. Helmets wich were primarily of the corinthian type (similar if not the exact ones you have on the corinthian hoplites). These horse hair crests were horizontal for officers, and vertical for the common men. They wore Bronze breastplates, and leg protection, their corinthian style helmets were also of bronze.
EDIT: Carados I am a complete dofus when it comes to editing files and I dont know where to find the files you mentioned. But thanks anyway.

What did the Spartans even wear in this time period? There was quite a bit of an argument in the RTR forum about what the actual Spartans should look like - Tony backed down and gave the majority their "elite" looking guys but I was always intrigued at the supposed complete lack of armour they had.
Odieman, you might know the general idea behind all this so I apologise if this sounds patronising to you (or whatever that word is), though I figured it'll be useful for other people who might want to change units.
What you need to do is get the .tga, .cas and .spr files for the Spartans you want.
Then, locate in the DMB the Spartan entry. It should look something like this:
Replace the red bit with the .tga filename you want.
Replace the green bit with the .cas filename you want.
Replace the blue bit with the .spr filename you want.
Note: for the .cas files, if you have high/medium/low/lowest at the end of the filename then make sure you put high with 15, medium with 20, low with 40 and lowest with max. The numbers are the maximum camera distances that the corresponding .cas file will show. For example, at a distance of 15 the Spartans will show up as the .cas file next to 15. At 40, any distance between 30 and 40 will show the Spartans as the .cas file corresponding to 30. This is basically to help keep the computer running smoothly, since the Max .cas file is usually of low quality. Note2: Our Spartans appear to look the same throughout because there are no high/medium/low/lowest files in there
Once you've done that, you need to put those .tga, .cas and .spr files in the correct folder as specified by the purple bits in the entry.
Note3: I would strongly recommend either creating a back-up of the DMB, or at least copying another Spartan entry directly underneath and commenting it out by putting a ; in front of every line.
OH. Yeah, just changing the way a unit looks should be absolutely no problem and you'll see the effects straight away.
Erm. There will be some around, you'll have to look. We don't have any alternate skins (we use the work of other people). It's just a case of what you want, really.
Regarding their armour, it is some discussion on whether the Corinthian helmet went out of use somewhere around 500 BC or not. The Corinthians are know to have used it after other cities quit using it, but this was probably part of re-arming the hoplites into a lighter body of units.
I personally think that Pelloponesian hoplites were generally heavier than the lighter hoplites around 300 BC. That's also part of why the Spartans lost nearly every war later, they focused on tradition rather than flanking manoeuvres and innovation.

Has some quite good skins in there, supposedly with unit cards and all. Tried doing it to the letter in the readme. But failed. Ah well guess Ill just have to contend with the current ones.
I just got a Victory btw. 50 Regions . First time I have actually played for this long in RTW or any of its mods. Its been great, I went into the vanilla yesterday, to check if I was succesfull in installing the mod above to vanilla. And I must say I got blown away, by the graphics and scale difference of EXRM and vanilla :0.
