Game will not get past the loading screen...?

Hi there, I got NTW in February and played into up until late March/early April, at which time I uninstalled it due to boredom.

Anyway I recently cleared my PC and reinstalled Windows(I forgot the name of the method..) in April/May(forget which). So now a few months later I reinstalled NTW and tried to start it.

Problem: When I start NTW it gets up to the starting screen(the one b4 the video) and it wont go past it at all, I even could not go back to the desktop which meant I had to restart the computer. This never happened before and I could play NTW on my computer with pretty good results beforehand.

Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz CPU
ATI Radeon X1600 Sapphire Pro
OS: Windows XP 32-bit
HD: 70.9GB(Told you it was old!

)
Standard dell computer(about 8 years old)

As I said before, I could run this on low-medium settings with no problems...

Yes, I have reinstalled it twice, once by steam, the other by disks, nothing changed.

I am beginning to think it is because of this new patch that came out, any solutions?

First things first.
When you reinstalled Windows, did you update your motherboard drivers?
When you reinstalled Windows, did you manually run Windows update until it said no more updates?
Did you update your graphices drivers?
Post your dxdiag and we'll look at the rest.

1)I believe so..if not, how can I check?

2)I just installed an update...so Ill check back with you about that

3)Just updated it, I will test in a moment.

Edit: I tried to upload my DxDiag in text form as an attachment...but it said the upload failed...

Do you still have the setup disc that came with your motherboard/computer?

Attatchments wont work until maybe tomorrow. Copy and paste works fine.

For motherboard chipset drivers, try http://support.dell.com/support/down...nConsent=False.

Try installing http://www.microsoft.com/net/Download.aspx. The ones with XP that have installed this say the game works.

I would also suggest turning down your monitor's resolution. Your system hardly meets minimum specs that CA posted when the game was released.

I hope these work..because if not..its time for me to look for a new computer, I tried the game after updating video drivers and windows update...but to no avail...

Yeah I know..its just finding the money.

So I tried it after updating the motherboard and .Net Framework 4..no luck..oh well..guess I cant play NTW on this computer anymore

depending the resolution this card has good gaming capabilities if its lower than 1680*1050

I mean that I can lower the price but you will play on high at resolutions of 1366*768, not ultra, it will be good though

High still sounds amazing to me because the highest setting I have been able to get on any game so far is low-medium lol.

IS there a major difference between the Intel and the AMD?

depends on the processor:

i3 and the athlons have the same performance

the phenoms II and the i5/i7 have the same performance in games. but in terms of other applications like rendering videos and other things very cpu intensive, you better of with intel meaning i5 and i7

although for crunching numbers the current king of multitask without leaving a liver is the phenom II X6 1050t (it has six cores) retails at 290. The one that beats this, is the king in price i7 980x with six cores, and 12 threads (imagine thread as an assembly line, the higher the better, but the thing is if the assembly line is not optimized for this kind of work, it will only use one, the common now is 2 threads being used) This can crunch anything that you throw at it

but since that most people here are gamers, then there is nothing that stops you from getting a AMD cpu

And these pcs that I put at the end of the desktop thread, they are good for gaming, general tasks and all that jazz. And they have a certain degree of ''future proofing'' since they have the newest standards like USB 3.0 and SATA III (or SATA 6gb/s)

btw the only way that I saw that could lower this budget, is to get the the 5570 card this will lower a little bit on the budget

and to lower the HD, but it really is not that worthy, this will probs shave a few 50 bucks

Anyway, Would reinstalling NTW help the problem outlined above? I thought it might, so I am doing it tonight and will see if it works tomorrow.

Also, I was looking around at computers, could this be a good one?

Though I noticed a lack of specifics for the video card.

Also If I do get a Computer, that would mean I would need a separate monitor considering mine is a Dell E173FP with a max res of 1920x1080....?

delete the scripts folder while at it

press: windows key and r

type: %appdata%

go to CA folder and delete everything in there
