    Default Important Notice...

Monday or Tuesday I am going to be updating ALL campaign folders with the correct names files, map changes and whatnot that I have left out of SVN because I didn't want to break anything. Currently, the Roman Campaign, Parthian, Scythian and Sarmatian campaigns are all correct, and have the right names, so anyone playing any OTHER campaign besides those will lose their saved games. This will also clear up the problems with the Traiken Elite Rombamooi or whatever which is in the descr_strat files you are using, and fix a bunch of other stuff. So beware. I will post in here when I have done this.

This will likely be the last major change before release.

Just trying to fix the CTD in the roman rebellion script - I've found a few errors so far, hopefully just one more to find.

By saying Roman campaign, you mean the Play_Test campaign right? So the update won't break saved games from that campaign?

Nothing is being done to the Play_Test folder as far as I know.

Oh crap... I think I did something wrong. This is the first I hear of the play_test folder (I only joined one and a half week ago). After some searching I found threads of several months old that said we had to use this play_test folder if we were going to test the Romans, because that map contained all the new gimmicks. Nobody told me, so I assumed I had to calibrate the launcher with "Rome" instead of "Play_Test"

What are the ramifications of this? How much of my observations are worthless, and more importantly, which ones are still valid? Battles, economy?

Don't worry, we changed away from using the Play_Test campaign a few weeks ago and the Rome campaign is the one to use, so nothing's wasted.

Does this mean release is imminent? Me and Roam will probably carry out our last balance tests tomorrow.

No, updating in a few minutes.

    Things that will change:

All previously un-hidden traits that were supposed to be hidden will be hidden again...except in the Roman campaigns....I will wait there because there may be more to see here in testing.
Some map files will change in all campaigns, fixing various reported issues. DO NOT REGENERATE the map in a currently running Roman campaign in the Play_Rome folder, as it will wreck saved games.
All campaigns will get the new Scythian and Sarmatian names.
All campaigns will have the issues with the Daoi\Thraiken Elite unit fixed.

Should we be restarting our previous campaigns or is there something specific you want us all to iron out?

Actually don't restart your campaigns yet. DVK has left all the Alpine passes open on the map, and these need closing first as it has a major impact on game outcome.

OK, fine to restart, I've updated all the maps and closed the Alps in all campaigns apart from Rome and Boii as before.

I've been playing the Boii campaign...I had never notice the Alps being opened. Are you saying really to the east and west. The North is sealed off...but you can head towards Segestica and then in Patavium...or is there something else that should be possible????

Dang it! Well, sorry, I had a more important issue to worry about yesterday. My external drive, where I keep all my RS2 stuff, started giving me trouble yesterday morning. At times I couldn't read anything from it, and other times it was just 'zeroing' files if I tried to look at them. I plugged the thing into a different USB port, rebooted, and copied the installer to a different drive......and shortly after that, the thing died completely!! It's a full size 250GB drive, and my son had one of these that failed too.....but it was the USB interface or controller that died, not the drive. So I'm not too worried about the stuff ON the drive, it's just that I can't get to any of it anymore until I figure out what to do with it.

Anyway, I was in such a panic to get all the updates made, and get the installer OFF the stupid thing that I wasn't checking things very closely. Sorry...narrowly avoided disaster.
