August Strindberg: "There's a view, current at the moment even among quite sensible people, that women, that secondary form of humanity (second to men, the lords and shapers of human civilisation) should in some way become equal with men, or could so be; this is leading to a struggle which is both bizarre and doomed. It's bizarre because a secondary form, by the laws of science, is always going to be a secondary form. Imagine two people, A (a man) and B (a woman). They start to run a race from the same point, C. A (the man) has a speed of, let's say, 100; B (the woman) has a speed of 60. Now, the question is 'Can B ever overtake A?" and the answer is 'Never!'. Whatever training, encouragement or self-denial is applied, the proposition is as impossible as that two parallel lines should ever meet."
Guys, I just watched "Mongol", rented from blockbuster. Don't miss it out, the best Genghis Khan story in a movie so far.
Great stuff, none of the usual Hollywood garbage in this one.

I watched Mongol last night. It was definitely worth a rent. It's no Gladiator, but still has some pretty good action sequences. By the end I was ready for more.
Trilogy is intended, all right. Movie looks and sounds very good to me. Well, still a bit Hollywood-ish ... (What movie isn't Hollywood-ish nowadays?! (rhetoric question)). But, at least, no English-speaking Genghis Khan who shouts "Freedom!" before he dies.
Anyway, recommended. I am looking forward to watching next part.
Those "Mongolian commando" charging looked awesome. Not sure how historic it was, but would be fun to see those units in M2TW mod.

Edit: Speaking of upcoming movies (I think it's in theaters now). Here is the one about Aleksandr Kolchak. Could be an interesting movie (end of WWI (for Russia), Russian revolution and Civil War). Trailer looks good.

We need a remake of All Quiet on the Western Front... high budget and good ... why hasn't anyone considered it? We're the most anti-war in America as we've been since the 70s...
Is there any other movie about the Crrusades except the "Kingdom of Heaven"?

Can´t wait to see them![]()
Does anyone know when Victoria is supposed to come out?
Don't know of any historical films coming out, though Passchendaele is a great movie for Canadians about World War 1.
I've seen Mongol, finally found an English sub title version. Alot easier to understand then the original Russian dub I foundI didn't know about the trilogy but, sounds good I'll have a look into it. Also I have heard that Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg are doing another historical epic in the scope of Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. I'm not sure of the name but I heard that it is just called the Pacific. Apparently it focuses on the journey of a sqaud of marines and their hard fought battles against the Japanese in the Pacific during WW2. If they are using the same crew that did SPR and BOB then it should be a "hell yeah!!!" mini series. SE.
that mongol movie is pretty good , it had me mesmerized throughout it.

They call this war a cloud over the land. But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say ****, it's raining!![]()
Hmmm:hmmm: its been years since anyones made a movie about Alfred the Great it could it interesting.
But no hollywoodthings up and making it unhistorical like 300 or i'll be posting hate mail so fast they won't know what hit them.
I Hate Hollywood!! arrrrrrgh!!!
i totally understand, but at the very least (at least for most people i know) it makes people intrested as to what really happened
i cant wait until the other two Mongol movies are released and the Admiral movie looks good i cant wait to see that

King Conqueror sounds really cool.
And Hollywood is due for a good Roman movie. ROME was a good TV series, but it didn't quite capture the scale and size of the Roman republic, I suppose because of the limited budget. But a movie about some good Roman campaign, perhaps chronicling the life of a single Roman and the commander, would be really good.
A roman movie about a period relatively unknown to many would be far better in my mind than another Caesar flick. I would love to see movie on Italic Social wars, Phyruss!?, Macedonian Wars, Marius, or the Pontic wars. Pontic wars would be an epic raging from Greece and across Turkey.

I found the fighting in Mongol a bit too stylized. That calvary charge with the swordsmen was totally fictional.
The BBC documentary done around the same time seemed better at portraying the sort of fighting.
