I hate it. Affirmative action is when someone or an entity uses race/religion as a factor in anything. In Harvard, you have a better chance of getting in if you were a hispanic/native american and had a slightly lower grade, then an asian who had a slightly better grade, or vice versa in different universities. I know you are supposed to have diversity and all that good things, but it isn't fare for people who work hard to get rejected from a University because of there race.

I believe that no race is smarter then the other, it just all boils down to how hard and strictly you work for your goals.

It's unfair to judge admission by race. Means someone who works harder then someone else gets a lower chance of admission because he is X race and the other guy who didn't work as hard (but still had a good grade, but just slightly lower) gets in because he is X race.

what do you think American indians are? if not taned asians? what are latinos but a mixture of white and (american)indians? the graph streses cultural and sosioeconomical diferences not race diferences.

Problem is you are associating school performance to race which is not feasible.

You should be comparing and making assumptions based on socioeconomic level not race.

Exactly why I said all races are smart, just that they don't try. It's all based on how strict your work is and how hard you work. I was just joking with the "it's proven asians are smarter". But there is still a little fact that asians are doing better academically then other races.

I don't think that discrimination can be positive in any way,it seems that affirmative action only causes more and more laziness among black/hispanic/native American students -"what's the point in wasting time for learning and making homeworks if I can get there without them?" and they get in... then,thanks to affirmative action,most of students,who are covered by the affirmative action and at same time are leaning to laziness don't bother themselves with doing anything/do far less then required and as a result we get just another generation of semi competent "professionals",created by idiotic goverment politics and at same time influx of such "professionals" breeds more and more racism.

Ah Affirmative Action. White people with nothing better to do thinking they're being enlightened, forward-thinking and intelligent by being racists. The shocking part is, they think they're the complete opposite of racists.

If affirmative action is "making up" for hundreds of years of institutionalized racism that have left blacks and other minorities behind, which created the self-perpetuating educational disparity between whites and minorities, then, for the most part, the Asian story has been largely different, though of course not free of racism's taint. Also, Asians have typically been newer immigrants to America.

Statistically, more Asians go to college than whites, and the median household income for Asians is higher than whites.

Its not about statistics, its more about principle. If one minority group got it, then all should get it as well.

I like diversity, too, but Im pro-equality. The main purpose of affirmative action was to forcibly tear down segregation. Today it no longer exists and literally anyone can be anyone he wants to be so I think the policy is already antiquated and it only serves as a reminder of the segregation era.

Give the poor financial aid, but dont let them cheat.
