I finally figured out how to win this battle. All you have to do is stand your ground...Since you have topographical advantage, it's practically easy to slaughter Napoleon's army as they march upwards. When a cavalry charge is imminent, wait for the last minute and switch your men to square formation. Following this strategy, you could kill 70% of Napoleon's men in just about 15 minutes. Just about time for the Prussians to join the fun and finish it.

Napoleon tends to send units in groups of 5 so it's practically easy to hold out. Never worry about enemy units assaulting your farmhouses; just give them suppressing fire. Once the french infantry get close, engage them two for one. Form a V-shape with 2 infantry units and fire at the enemy and they will get easily dissolved. You can even beat this game without the help of the Prussians.(If you're not that lazy)

I managed to first time Waterloo (as both sides) on VH.

Britain: Simple as standing your ground and ensuring you envelope every unit that attack you. As the French never attack as one solid body, this tactic will probably see you winning the battle without losing a single unit in it's entirety. The most difficult phase of the battle will probably come from the French left (your right) as they engage with both Old and Young guard, again envelope these units and cav charge in between their volleys and you will hold firm. It's really incredibly simple to break the French attack.

France. Simply divert your reserve young guard and your cavalry to deal with the Prussian threat whilst attacking the far right (your left) of the British. The British AI will never attempt to engage your efforts with all of it's forces as it focuses on holding the ridge. Once you've dealt with the weak Prussian force (minimum artillery, lawdwehr and line) simply take the long road around the ridge (your extreme right) in order to avoid the farmhouse whilst maintaining heavy fire with your cannons.

With better AI both would be challenging. We 2v2'd Waterloo as part of an inter-clan match and it heated things up considerably.

    .
We have the very same tactics for France. I moved all of my units to the rightmost side of the map but leaving my 2 6pounders behind to put a little pressure behind. I then set up my horse artillery at a high ground overlooking the small pass where I'll be holding the Prussians off. I set it to canister shot to decimate the Prussian ranks...Once they rout, I reform my men to sweep through the British flank. Again, they don't give a damn and doesn't engage you with a full army. There are times that they leave Wellington unattended and I send lancers to finish them off. In the end, I have very few casualties provided I do it right
