Default Populares, Optimates and the Social War

I'm making a mod based around the Social Wars, and the conflicts between the Populares and Optimates.

It will feature: Different factions, Julii are replaced with the Optimates, Brutii with Populares, Scipii with Italia, and SPQR with the Republic of Rome (which will still act as a senate in one campaign), Egypt will have the correct name of the Ptolemaic Empire and Thrace will be replaced with Odrysia. Gaul might be replaced with the Averni and Germania with either the Cherusci or Marcomanii.

Multiple campaigns: An imperial campaign much like the original, but historically accurate starting territories for Rome, a social wars campaign featuring Italia, and an Optimates/Populares campaign with the Roman Empire being divided between the two, except for Rome, going to the the Senate. In the last campaign, politics will play an important part, with many new traits (e.g. a Popularis trait lowering taxes and increasing influence).

If anyone's got any ideas or contributions please do contribute.

    Sounds like a great idea

How far will the map extend? Or have you got that worked out already? I was just thinking that you'd need to work out the extent of the map before publishing a definitive faction listing.

Sounds very ambitious. I don't know how easy it would be, but have you thought about attempting to combine the first two into one campaign? If you use the BI.exe then Italia could be worked in as an emergent faction, triggered by the Marian Reform?

Sounds pretty good. I would definitely have the Popularis and Optimates as separate factions here, though it would be hard to define which provinces would go to each faction. Maybe go with the East, Greece and Spain for the Optimates (I think they were Pompey's powerbases during the fistycuffs between Caesar and Pompey), and Gaul for the Popularis? Then the Senate faction would have Italy, Sicily, and North Africa.
