Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
you can only recruit your factions units in your factions historical lands basically. All other regions you capture will only have crappy levy troops (or some none at all) and a few regions have decent local nobles units, which are too few to really help you, so in the end your "core regions" are the only ones you can train good troops in. I would advise converting at least one other core town into a castle for additional recruitment and convert ALL captured castles into towns for additional income.

Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
The thing is that this particular recruitment issue of KoJ determines uniqueness of factional campaign.
Problems with recruitment are linked with lack of European manpower in Middle East. It wouldn't be possible to recruit European sergeants of knights in Baghdad, even if somehow its population had converted to catholicism in 100%. European feudalism was something different than Islamic social systems, so it's change of mentality that would be a necessity...
I don't think we will widen availability of European troops in the Middle East - this isn't likely to happen. What is an option is to give more local auxilia and regional nobles to the player... But w haven't touched that thing yet, so we will see.

Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
yeah i do understand this and it makes perfect sense, only historical accuracy can sometimes take away some of the fun i think.sometimes a player just simply wants to choose his favorite looking faction and conquer the whole campaign map by recruiting that factions units and fighting battles.

Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
Yes. In that case you can mod the files yourself. It's not that hard and TWC has guides and resources and support to make it very easy.

Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
Yes, iirc, Ayyubids have easier access to factional troops.

Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
Islam factions especially Sejiuk,Rum or Ayubid can train and retrain some of their good troop in the large part of the map
I think the easiest troop I can train and retrain is RB bow and Ghulams. They're appease nearly everywhere and they often form the bulk of my army alongside with various local (and weak) archers

Re: question about recruiting in conquered settlements??
Ideally I'd love to see a system like Europa Barbarorum has, where you can make entire viable armies out of regional troops.
In Europa Barbarorum, my Romans have a client army in Spain made up out of Celtiberian troops, a client army in Thrace composed of Thracian and Galatian troops, a client army in Gaul consisting of various Gallic and Alpine troops, etc. They're more limited than the Roman and Italian armies and often lack elites. But it allows for a great deal of variety and fits history.
Balancing a system like this out probably would be a pain, but I imagine it would be possible. It wouldn't require actual addition units to be made as the system'd simply recycle other factions' units.
