    Default Moving your Unites

Hello I recently got Napoleon Total War and I am a complete noob at the total war series, and played some land battles. I wanted to ask what is the best way to move your army? Do you highlight them all and hold right click to make them move in a formation together or do you individually click each unit and drag out its formation? I am having a hard time moving my units correctly, sometimes i will just right click them into position but they arrive at an angle facing away from the enemy. Any tips? thank you.

P.S: Anything else that would be useful to a beginner I would love to hear. (I misspelled units lol)

The best thing is not to move your units at all nEmM, just simply take 6 units of howitzers, and deploy your light inf and stakes around them. This way you will become a 9 star general in no time. gl!

Thats what I do usually in single player, just wait for the enemy to come to me, but I am guessing in multiplayer that does not happen often. Or I could be wrong.

It does happen very often and many players look down upon it. But I call it tactics, Anything within the rules counts my friend.

Well I personally click and drag. Takes a bit of 'microing' but it works. Press space bar to view the your unit in relation with other units. This helps a lot.

Unless you want to be a titled as a 'Noob' or a 'Camper' I suggest you get used to attacking. Though if you want easy wins against less skilled players and
lots of pretty little stars under your name. Camp.

First thing mate use 2 or 3 groups to start the game with, its easier to move them up the field to the engagement with your opponent.
After that it all depends on what rocks your boat, some people like to ungroup there units and move there units one by one while others like to use smaller groups i personally like to use both.So just play a heap of games make sure you move your units around a lot try and out flank your opponent. It doesnt matter if you lose the first 50 games doing this but after a while you will start pulling off awesome movements and just completely out classing most randoms.JUST KEEP MOVING YOUR UNITS AND GET GOOD AT IT.DO NOT BE A CAMPER

i think camping is legit. otherwise i agree with Bushranger most of the time.

with regard to groups specifically, the central concept to remember is groups reduce movement speed and decrease flexibility, but they save you time with your mouse cursor. moreover, Not all maps are good for groups, and these sorts of calls you can only make once you have a few hundred hours under your belt. but between bushy and myself i think we've pretty much covered it.

as he said best players will play both ways, and my style further switches based ont he map, my plan, and what i think my opponent will try to do.

This video from Saediz might help as well in NTW. And remember NTW is very different from single player. For a start: you are facing humans; not witless, brainless, primitive, confused, deranged and bizarre Total War AI.

what bushranger said is what to do.

also i would tend to use more infantry to start with and as u get more comfortable add cav units to you builds u will find your mirco will inprove quicker using infantry. if your micro seems to go a bit crappy decrease the number of cav units u use until you feel ur mirco improving again. this works for me.

I think we need to become more politically correct. No more use using the "C" word, for now on it is to be called tactical defending. And no more using the "S" word, it is to be called choosing your units wisely!

Hmmm, this is most likely because you have never faced me bushranger. If you had you wouldn't take an army of light inf so lightly. In my hands it is the deadiest force to be encountered in Napoleon total war.

o o o no i take a army of light inf very seriously, they are the most unbalanced, stupidly implemented unit in the game, and anyone who wins games with them is unskilled.but i know you dont hem i bet your one of the best all round players out there leading us all on.

Thanks bushranger, but to think that I'm one of the best is slightly misleading. Sure I win 99.9% of the battles I play, but this is because over 99.9% of the players are complete noobs! Perhaps I will face you inbattle some day, you seem like a good fellow.
