    Icon3 Despicable Treachery!

I have RTW for like 2 years now? And in my curent campaign where I play Germania (and pwning the AI severely) I now collide to something I've never seen before in my entire RTW experience: the AI bribing stuff.
I know this isn't a very rare occasion such as assassinations of own familymembers by foreign assassins, but now it seems as if the AI is on a bribe-tour. Everything was running smoothly until I got this message: Despicable Treachery!Ricgard
This man has abandoned all honour, all claim to a hearth-place our people - aye, and all right to be treated as a true man! He has sold himself, like a goat at market!

This was new to me, as the AI never even thought about bribing one of our familymembers. "A rare occasion which will not occur very soon anymore." I thought, untill they (I think it was the Julii (Roman scum )) who bribed Massilia from me with an army standing next to it also! I took it back anyway because Massilia didn't have any Juliustroops in it but now my question:

Does the AI relatively fast try to bribe my soldiers, familymembers and cities? And should I be constantly aware of diplomats entering my lands and try to talk to my soldiers etc.? Or should I just try to assassinate them as soon as possible? This is rare for me to happen as the AI has never tried before to bribe things of me until now when I play Germania! Is it frequently this happens?

    Totally. Simple as that.

I have little tolerance to any diplomats near my borders, even if they serve my allies. A treachery (even rare) is always a possibility, and I like control on the diplomacy. Total control. If I want my ally to wage war on a nation neutral to them, I bribe them or threaten them to attack the other. Same goes for peace situations. Other diplomats are like pests, and are perfect target practices for my Assassins.

Besides, espionage is an awesome art. And in my campaigns, my talented spies and assassins are known through out the world as excellent artists.

It has never happened to me besides diplomats switching sides. I'm pretty sure when you see other faction's diplomats 'talk' to your cities during their turn, they are trying to bribe your cities. But this is all speculation on my part.

I was once an Angel of Total War Heaven, but gave up my wings for a life on the sea of battle.

I'm not sure about bribing but i'm pretty sure to have noticed that when i start spawning a lot of assassins, the
ai is countering with assassins spam too - some kind'a learn from the human tactics and use them aswell.

In case of bribery - i've seen it but then again only a one or two times during many campaigns.

I've only had it happen to me a couple of times. It's annoying because I don't bribe and tend to ignore diplomats.

    Bribing..

With carthage I took over italy, except for Rome in about 30 years. And then the bribing fiesta begun. Senate expanded it's power holding 4 provinces by simply bribing everything it sees or it's diplomats come across.

Blah, but then got ceasefire with gauls and crushed the Sanate for good.

I bribe occasionally, if I have a good enough diplomat and the funds to do so, can be really useful at clearing the way to a city and if I am able new generals are always nice. I have never lost a family member to a bribe before, but im sure it will happen enventually. Iv lost plenty of captains however, some commanding full stacks, very frustrating. Now days I wont leave a large force without a general of some kind. Romans and Egyptians both are good at bribing your armies and cities away if your not careful even with all their military backing.
