Confused with EXRM

hello all,

I have installed ROME TW to patch 1.5 and have downloaded and installed Rome Total realism platinum. Now i want to get the extended realism mod but i don't know which one to download since there are some many download links on the sticky pages. Also how would i get it to work with just using the Rome TW 1.5 since i do not have barbarian invasion. So could someone direct me to the correct download link for extended realism mod please.

It wont work without barbarian invasion.

Installation is pritty simple

Install RTW
Install BI
Patch RTW 1.5
Path BI 1.6
Install EXRM to RTW folder. Please note if you dont have an american copy of the game the default location is wrong in the XRM installer as i think two different companies released it in uk and usa.

You don't need to patch RTW to 1.5 if you're installing BI. Just patch that to 1.6.

I'm pretty sure it will work with just RTW patched to 1.5, though. Just install it and see what happens...if it doesn't work, let me know and I'll tell you how to get it working.

Just use the installer from the No-nonsense installer thread, but keep in mind that you might need to redirect it to your correct installation folder, as Domitan pointed out.

So far i have done this.

1. Installed Rome Total War
2.Installed the patches 1.2,1.3 and 1.5
3.Downloaded The no-nonsense installer
4.Installed Extended realism mod.

When i went to run it, it did not work. But i did not make the "coding amendments". So what are the coding amendments?

Installed EXRM with only having the 1.5 patch (i do not have the BI add on) did the coding amendmants but i can't play it because the EXRM shortcut on my desktop does nothing when i double click on it says it can not find the Rome TW BI.exe

I don't have BI expansion pack but i remember getting the mod to work a long time ago but can not remember how i did it is something to do with that shortcut?

You must open the properties for your shortcut, and change the path that looks for "RomeTW-BI.exe" to "RomwTW.exe" Then it'll work.

If you need BI, you can get it with the RTW Gold Edition, its less than $10 (US dollars).

Got it to work but when i go and start a campaign i will choose the faction i want to be and then continue. It takes me back to the main menu with Rome TW platinum at the top. I go exit the game and i see there is a error message saying something about stringable scripts about this faction beginning with A (i can't remember the name)

My only guess would be to try deleting map.rwm.

You need the 1.6 patch.

Install

1) Rome Total War
2) Barbarian Invasion.
3) 1.6 patch.
4) Install the mod.

I wasn't aware that you could play the mod otherwise.

Remove all instances of shield_wall and can_swim in a certain file I've forgotten (think it was export_descr_units.txt) and change the shortcut from RomeTW-BI.exe to RomeTW.exe and it'll work. At least, that's how I made it work until I got Gold Edition.
