What does the charge bonus matter for infantry? I never see infantry die on impact, so what is the charge bonus for, for them?

Its a tiny benefit. I occasionally see people drop when two-hand sword wielders charge in, a little faster than they would otherwise. If there's anything else, its news to me
It's said that charge is most important for Celtic and Germanic infantry, though I have little experience with them.
At least you don't see people jumping up and down during the charge. That used to freak me out.

Thank you for the replies.
Seems like it has been giving no clear answer yet. The charge bonus increases the damage done by units as soon as the charge connect. (when you see them running towards a foe with weapons above their heads, when they hit it will cause extra damage) They often start the attack infront of the units or charge trough them for no effect because of a bug, though. It is often valuable to counter-charge instead of standing still because of the bonus charging gives.
