Default arcade battles and difficulty settings

What exactly does the arcade battles option do? It says less realistic but that can mean many things so im jsut curious as to what that does.

My second question is what exactly do the difficulties change? I know they change moral and stuff but what are the numbers and what difficulty would make neither side get boosts. Cause i liek fair battle and i pretty much suck anyways but i dont want it handed to me on a silver platter. Just even armies is all i ask.

I tend to stay well away from anything with the word *Arcade* in it, so i coulden't tell you exactly what the difference is.

Regards the Difficulty settings, if you change the battle difficulty any higher than Medium the AI have increased stats - More damage than your equivalent units. Its not possibly to make the Battle difficulty any harder in terms of AI skill/Efficiency ... just unbalanced stats.

As far as i know increasing the Campaign difficulty does a few things, Increased economy bonus for AI, More aggressive AI on the campaign map, stricter diplomacy.

Infinite Ammo for all ranged units, nearly eliminating Morale, and making Stamina much less noticable.

I believe the Hard Battle difficulty gives +4 to Attack, Morale, and Defense Skill of all AI units, while Very Hard gives +7. I could be wrong. :/

And, at the risk of drawing the hordes: If you want "even armies," you'd best play online against people. The AI simply isn't capable enough.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Arcade battles also don't let you have a pre-battle deployment. They're like a seige battle when the enemy sallies, when you get to the battle you have to pause to issue your orders.
when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.

Thanks Always wondered tha tand what i mean by even i mean stats wise cause i hate having the computer get stuff i cant get. I'm not that good at battle so thats why i wanted to make sure it was even.

I wish there was a way to make the AI harder by other means than just giving them better stats than yourself. I like challenge but setting the battle difficulty higher seems a cheap and unrealistic way to do it. Even from a Role playing standpoint i cannot justify their power on Hard and Very hard.

It just doesen't make any sense when the AI peasants can kill your general's units with ease, although i could still win a campaign on VH, i see no joy in slaughtering thousands of my troops against opponents that magically do more damage than my higher tier troops.

yep exactly what i mean. I dont mind the AI being mroe agressive or smarter in what it does just hate games that add stat boosts.

Wait, so there is no AI change for harder battle difficulties? No wonder i was wondering why i was getting destroyed in my other thread, i was on hard. I figured the main difference was harder BAI and maybe more morale. That is lame. I play the other total war games on hard battle difficulty and it seems to me that it only makes the BAI better and doesnt make the unit stats just randomly better for no reason, at least i dont get utterly destroyed in those other TW games when i play on hard difficulty.
