for the first time since I can remember in a long while, I think I am about to lose a campaign. And it's been a blast. I am going to fight until the bitter end, but i just can't keep up with the endless French stacks coming from the north. It is later 1813 and France really turned it on over the last year. I thought I had them but wow did they push back hard.

Things went downhill after I lost my eastern army which had been protecting and driving from Valencia. Two stacks swooped in to claim the prized territory. I sent my backup army but they were ambushed on route by another stack. In the west I am holding ground but 2-3 stacks take turns invading my lands.

It probably would have been different if i rushed from the start, but i like to give the AI a few turns before i let loose. This time, it seems to have did me in. Worth it though. Good times.

You seem to be in the same situation as I am in my Prussian campaign. I was buffering my armies in the east to try and push russia out of recently invaded Poland. But almost as soon as my reserve armies arrived in the east, the French and Spanish sent 5 full stacks at my western borders. They pushed all the way into hanover and Bavaria before I could rush my troops back.

By then I had to pull my armies in east prussia all the way back to berlin to hold the capital while my western armies try to deal with Napoleon and the spanish. At the start of 1812 I held 22 regions. It is now late Feb 1813 and I hold 12 regions.

I find it sad that the larger my nation grows the more the other countries hate me. But the inverse is not true. As my nation is slowly crumbling, I see no helping hands from past allies. I cant even get austria (my ally) to break its trade agreement with russia.

Interesting. What difficulty settings you play at?

Peninsular campaign is definately a challenge worthy of any TW fan

@Gord96 twice now my Spanish peninsular campaign has ground to a stalemate and subsequently been lost - both times I was not defeated as such but simply failed to end the campaign with the French only in possession of 5 regions.

Damn. I won my VH/VH campain as Spain in 45 turns with ease. The thing is not to wage battles if you don't have to. Just go around capturnig cities. AI is so dumb that he doesn't use his stacks as a human would but hangs around usually doing nothing.

where is the fun in that? Why avoid battles? That's what makes the game fun! I don't really want to beat the campaign as quick as I can. I do everything I can to give the AI the advantage. Pleased to see that it worked!

@CaptainMack. Sounds like a fun campaign!

Its my nature I guess. I always play to win. So I give AI VH/VH and do my best to beat him. If he is dumb thats his problem.

Maybe thats why I find Sp boring and enjoy MPC. Me and HWick are haveing a blast in an Peninsula MPC. France vs GB.
