    Is there any easy way to play as aztecs without downloading a mod or doing tedious modding work?

    Nope, because you get ''Faction Destroyed'' if you try via descr_strat
    so you will have to dl a mod

    Kingdoms Expansion and the Custom Campaign/Retrofid Mod makes them Playable.
