"A Foot Soldier is commonly a Man, who for the sake of wearing a Sword, and the Honour of being term'd a Gentleman, is coax'd from a Handicraft Trade, whereby he might Live comfortably, to bear Arms for his King and Country, whereby he has the hopes of nothing but to Live Starvingly...The best end he can expect to make, is to Die in the Bed of Honour; and the greatest Living Marks of his Bravery, to recommend him at once to the World's Praise and Pity, are Crippled Limbs, with which I shall leave him to beg a better Lively Hood."
Ok
The War of 1812 makes about no sense in NTW. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing it added, but not before many more important campaigns were added to the real war.
The War of 1812 may be important to my American cultural memory, but it was a side show compared to what was going on in the rest of the world.

Clarification: did OP mean the North American War of 1812, or the invasion of Russia in 1812?
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy how's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.
I'm not opposed to having the War of 1812 added, I just think it should come (if ever) after other Napoleonic campaigns are done.
The War of 1812 would be a great addition, but just because it occured at the same time period and involved one of the major combatants doesn't mean it was a part of the Napoleonic Wars.
And by the way: I sincerely hope this thread doesn't turn into yet another bout of fellow Americans arguing with our European brothers about who's national penises are larger. The War of 1812 absolutely has merits as DLC, both in terms of military history and financially as the American game market might make such an add on profitable. Its simply my opinion (as an American mind you) that the game should be the best representation of the Napoleonic Wars possible.
Now, I would LOVE to see the NTW engine used to make a game of the War Between the States. That would kick ass.

Another benefit: the current 'problem' that the largest battles in NTW are about 1500 vs 1500 is no longer a problem, as that was near the size of large battles in the War of 1812.
Also, hope you like having a navy of sloops and brigs exclusively until late 1813, when you gain frigates, and late 1814, when first-rates show up.

actually you should recall that the US had several operational frigates before 1800 and aftter several granted small scale losses the british admiralty forbade frigate encounters one on one - the only significant loss being the chesapeake where the captain decided not to cross the rear of the british frigate and lost
well dealing with the natives in North America had plenty to do with the expanding empires of Spain, Britain and France.
The poster is just saying that Napoleon had really nothing to do with the War of 1812.
On a side note, it would be cool for the next DLC to be Napoleon's German conquests. Factions could be France, Bavaria, Prussia, Saxony, etc.
England couldn't spare troops for Europe beforehand either. The policy of Britain was to fight Napoleon at sea and pay the powers of Europe to do the other fighting on the land. The Iberian peninsula later in the war was the exception to this policy, and even then that was in support of other armies.
In the meantime, England was more than happy to gobble up French colonies and make an attempt at swiping Spanish posessions in the Americas...with troops that could have supported their allies on the continent.

Think he meant Russian war of 1812.
I'm wondering how many Europeans actually know about American war of 1812?
EDIT:
Besides British
